My mom referred to a 39 year old as a lad today and now I've noticed a few guys on here mid to late 30s and over calling themselves lads do over 30 guys like being called lads??

I don't mind being called lad.

Was havin a similar conversation the other day about my dad, he's just started "dating" a lady and it seems strange calling her his girlfriend when they're both 68!!

A lad is a male who specialises in creating and distributing exquisite banter. Though most lads are youngish (late teens and early twenties) age is not a defining characteristic and you will find both young lads and old lads.

Urban dictionary

Lad has taken on a new meaning last few years.

P here... for supporting evidence see "the lad bible". Lads also have an investing love for bacon. I think once you get over 35 you become a "grand-lad" but most grand-lads have age on their side so do the most epic forms of banter
