I heard we could be under a new cold war as russia and ukraine are getting at it, what would it mean for us, would we hear the sirens once a month again like in the 80's?.

This current situation will blow over as fast as all the other situations where there were no black gold supplies to the US involved!

i think cold war, take 2 is really probably the worst case scenario, here. Putin isn't likely to back down. how far the u.s. and uk take it, though, will largely depend on domestic support and both countries are very war weary following the conflicts of the last decade.

history gives you the answer, most major military campaigns start at stupid o'clock. When your opposite number has been alert all night and sleep deprived etc

Those of us who lived through the Cold War of the '60's remember just how frightening it was, and how very, very close we actually came to total annihilation...

As kids we were taught to hid under tables, or the stairs, or whatever - but it wouldn't have helped, we would have all died...

And it was all very real, and it all started the same way...

I heard the sirens once during the eighties. It was early in the morning before getting up for school. I must have been half asleep, as I wasn't really bothered by it. For most of my childhood I was petrified that world war 3 was going to start.
