Which person, past or present has been your role model, your inspiration, your muse?

It need not be a famous person - it could be a relative or friend.

How have they become your role model - what inspired you about them?

was my father

used to think he was weak minded and a waste of space

however, having taken the time to speak to him about his life, and researched his wartime career....he became my hero and my inspiration. Ended up amazed that he ended up half the man he was.

Wow that is amazing - did you get the chance to tell him how you looked up to him?

my reflection in the mirror.

as long as I can look at myself and think 'I have truly treated others the way I wish to be treated' that is enough for me.

sadly, I have not always been able to think I have done the above.. and to those 'I have bowed down and apologised'.

She sounds like a real character - without being physically big she was larger than life? She must have been a real positive influence on you

I love this Mantra (based on a German philosopher by the unmentionable name "Kant")

The second part of your post - wow it shows a real man who can apologise when he is wrong. When I say "man" I actually mean people. Thank you

.

My mum, she never had a bad word to say about anyone, was loved and loved everyone.

When she died I found presents under her bed for everyone, except me. I know why and it didn't matter to me, her love was all I needed.

I often wonder what she would think of the way I live my life

Your mum continues to live in you. And if she was anything like you - she would not pass a bad word about the way you live your life

As a child my favourite uncle live in a MMF threesome for 15 or more years!

Did not twig at the time why these 3 arty types shared a house and where so close. Real post 60's stuff. LOL

I was so innocent!

Later he moved in with a number of younger women! (A lot younger! )

Always wanted to be like him when I was younger, he seemed so cool. Now I know he was!! LOL

My inspiration - sorry this is bit more serious - was an auntie of mine who was always full of life and more importantly, her handbag was always full of chocolate and treats for us kids....

I did not realise until she had died that she had spent a life time being bullied by her husband. She is my inspiration as somebody who in a bad situation herself, still found it in herself to give love to others, never complained about her fate.

And she was probably responsible for my fight against bullies, at schools and at work.

My three kids each in their own way inspire me to be all that I can be each and every day.

My eldest son and I often have deep conversations and can talk the whole night away, see the dawn in together and cry laugh and hug at the end of it.

My daughter the eldest of all three has spark intelligence and is raising my grandson with old fashioned family values that warms my heart to see, as she is my first born and will always be my baby.

Then my youngest son, my baby, is the image of his dead father and even though hardly knowing him, has his characteristics and mannerisms which choke me up but makes me realise the love of my life lives on through him.

They truly raise me up in their own individual ways daily. I am blessed to have them in my life. xxxxxxxx

Reading back through this thread it is heartening to see that out of all the people in the world, past or present, not one has chosen to mention a famous person.

Each individual draws strength and inspiration from those ordinary folk we call family.

A year or so ago I met a very brave lady who had lost her son in Afghanistan, she wasn't bitter at all, instead she had devoted her life to raising money for Help For Heroes.

She has remained a friend and inspiration to me since that day.
