I've been with Aurora Watch for quite a while now, never had any joy, so when their Amber Alert came through yesterday I just ignored it.

Guess what

The BBC showed various pictures taken by viewers, and yes - it will have been visible here, too.

Anybody among your lot saw it?

Really? Will be on the lookout then. In all my 20 years Oop Norf I've only seen 1 (ONE) manifestation, and that was not the wafting green curtains; it was more low cloud lit from above, with red and green. It was peculiar and nice, but not as spectacular as the curtain-y thing.

A friend in Moray saw it. I saw it 3 times when I lived there, however I was once out at a lake in the Canadian wilderness and got the full works.

It looked wonderful reflected on the surface of the lake. The locals claim that you sing to it to make it dance.

Central

Sounds like a good time to be outdoors tonight, well wrapped up as it's a bit chilly, to try and catch it. Never seen it and would love to. Maybe we should all find a quiet spot, for a fab aurora group session.

I'm meeting for dinner in Newcastle with a Fabstress tonight, so maybe on the way back where there's hardly

any light pollution I'll be able to see it.

If so, that would make for a very lovely evening indeed.

Never heard of auroa watch. Google it. Went to Tromso in Norway to see then and never saw them. I was told that one of the best places to see them is Cold Stone Cut nr Patley Bridge

Yes I got a few picture of it from Edinburgh, one was re-tweeted by a local radio station and another might be picked up by the METRO.
