This

Time is the great healer, - just keep talking to people & don't deal with it on your own; I know an idiot who did that once - 'erhem'!!

It is just the old cliché of time is a healer and all that. Took me a long time after my last long term relationship and then one day when nothing different had happened, I met him and felt nothing. That's sort of sad too that someone who was such a massive part of your life can end up jut another person on the street.

In time you'll be fine, - at least you're here chatting about it, that's a good start!!

I felt like this for a long time after my wife left me, but time really does heal, you'll never be the same person again but you will be a better person.

I suggest that you talk to a professional therapist. It has helped me in the past and is helping now. It can make the process less traumatic..

No way to explain except for me my last love was much deeper than my married partner.

Doesnt matter if it was years or months, you had a relationship him. Dont beat yourself up over how you feel. Take your time. Xx

It takes time but you will get over it. Cut off all contact and concentrate on your future. It's not easy and you will have good and then bad days but you'll get there.

This.

You must avoid ALL contact. The no contact rule is paramount. It's sad because you almost don't want to get over people you have loved. But in time you'll realise there are other special people who can offer just as much and more in a lot of circumstances. Lots of socialising, and sex will help. Just get into a 'their loss' mentality, how much they will regret losing such a kindred spirit etc and you'll be ready to move on in months rather than the years it feels like its going to be

Like others have said, time will allow you to heal. Allow yourself to feel sad sometimes, but also give yourself a new focus! I started running - that helped. One day you'll look back and wonder what the fuss was all about. Keep talking too, as keeping a lid on your feelings does no-one any good.

Hope you feel better about it all soon.

"but also give yourself a new focus! I started running - that helped."

This. Running is fantastic, don't know why, but not only is it by far the most rewarding and beneficial exercise, it also seems to manifest a physical feeling of separation.

Try it. Serious.

Ask yourself was it real ? Yes you have feelings but was it all one side your side. ? Most of us at sometime in our life been here and it hurts as your dreams and hopes are smashed . Only time will help you get over this and the next man who comes into your life maybe different but only you will know if its a risk worth taking after this . We live and learn and at times that can hurt . xxx

A broken heart takes X amount of time to heal. It is a different amount of time for all of us. Allow yourself to grieve.

leeds

I had two sayings that I looked at every morning

"Our wounds don't hurt the inflictor"

All the hurt you are feeling is only hurting you, he may be the cause of the pain but he has moved on and your time spent hurting is only affecting you, don't let it.

The second,

"If your past calls, don't answer, it has nothing new to say"

What's happened has happened, there is nothing you can do to change it, nothing you could have done differently, nothing that can bring it back. Look at him as a part of your life you needed at that time, not a part that has to stay with you to cause you pain.
