I don't really know but the 13 year old replies to nearly every text I send with just "cool beans".

I don't understand when they say "bare" or "gnarly" either.

Central

Believe you me. I dont like it, but assume it means an emphasis upon the validity of what the speaker is saying. If they could have added 'O ye, o ye . . . ' before it, in olden times, it would have added dramatic effect.

Cool beans is basically two words to make 'cool' sound better, so where as you'd usually reply 'cool'.. It's sometimes said 'cool beans'

I don't know why us younger generation need to change English language.. It just happens.

When someone gets any form of rejection ad someone uses a cliche to them. In ever understand them as 99.9% of them are likes and are only said to make the other person feel better.

"Fannying about.

Americans use fanny as a term for the bottom.

So possibly fannying about is lazing around and not getting on with the task.

As far as I understand it, it comes from sweet fanny Adams which means nothing, so if your doing nothing your fannying about

My old ma had a saying when I was a kid, when she sent me to the shop she would say, remember run both ways and walk back, I used to think that would get me back at the shop,

Apparently it means hurry up but don't understand it one bit

Every generation does it. It's how language evolves. If they didn't we'd all still be talking in grunts like cave men lol granted some people still do talk like that

Someone saying

' Do you want to play '

Play to me is what we do when we are younger and still at school - we go out to play. Board games etc

That phrase just makes me shudders

The word "shortie" in rap songs...what does it mean...is it a term of endearment or of disrespect...i don't know!

My 12 year old says (and writes) Kay dot...apparently its a diss when you want to end a conversation witb ok as in text speak k. Pisses me right off when she says it to me but I do laugh when she writes something longer than it should be...tweenagers!!

The one i have trouble fathoming out (maybe i'm thick) is the one the police use when you get arrested, (no i have never been arrested) and they always finish with, do you understand?? Everyone says yes but if it was me, i would have to say "no, i really dont"
