I want to go to uni and study adult nursing however I need grade a-c in maths before I do so, which I don't already have. I have been told by a friend that both of these courses are free as one is government funded and the other is funded by the NHS also you never pay the course fees back at any point as long as you stay in NHS employment for 5 years.

I'm just wondering how true this is?

I don't mind either way because it's working towards the career I want. Just purely inquisitive

Yes this is true. Nhs will fund your degree so long as you work for them x

Ah not sure how long you have to work for them. I only know it is funded because a friend of mine has started their degree and told ne nhs has funded it.

Yes I have looked at the requirements for my local university which I have been told have great facilities and teaching for nursing and I fit all the criteria apart from that minor issue with my grade. X

No. Different routes for that.

There is a sector skills council for most employment sectors and entry level qualifications often have some sort of subsidy. Unfortunately, for higher levels you have to pay unless there is a significant shortage of skilled labour.

UKCES has the full list of sector skills councils for others looking for work related training information.

No. Different routes for that.

Check with the university if they do an assessment paper where they can give a level of ability. If you pass this with a high enough mark some universities then allow that instead of the formal qualifications.

You may be able to gain access to your course via another route, such as some foundation courses. If it's taught at the same uni, it may then make it very easy to transfer - that's if you don't get that one subject's grade. I'd speak with admissions staff there and see what they say. I see a lot of students every day who have started at uni via non-standard access methods.
