"I've got James Martin on as I wait for my client to call and he has just said that every Brit spends an average of £110 per month on takeaways. I might get to £15-20 a month. What's you average?" Most months it's nothing at all. At the moment it's nothing because I'm on a low carb diet. I used to have the occasional pizza but I like Domino's stuffed crusts so it used to end up costing £25. That fed me for 2 (sometimes 3) days, but it's expensive for food that is incredibly unhealthy. I switched to keeping a couple of supermarket pizzas in the freezer and found because they were there if I wanted them, I ate even fewer. I also didn't have the temptation to add sides and ice cream. And if I bought them when they were on special offer, they cost no more than £2.50 each. I had one every 2-3 months. Prior to the start of the diet I had sausage and chips perhaps once every month or two, which was about £4. I like Chinese and indian but won't order it just for me. I ate far more takeaway when I was in a relationship. I do occasionally eat McDonald's and KFC, (though not at the moment, obviously), but I aim to stop that completely because it's an expensive way to potentially harm one's health. So, prior to the diet, less than £5 a month plus maybe £10 a month on KFC etc. Now, nothing. I'm spending a lot on decent quality protein though! | |||

Fungus *shudder*" It doesn't taste like mushrooms or have a similar texture (I don't like them either). Just make sure you have.some kind of sauce or gravy with it cos it's all protein and no fat and could be bland. Got cassoulet for tea made with veggies, haricot beans and tomato gravy and quorn sausages bubbling away in the slow cooker. Low carb, very low fat and can eat a huge bowl with a clear conscience. | |||

I could probably blow £100 a night " Nandos chicken seems to have shrunk but it is easily possibly to spend a lot there, for not very much. Quinoa, mentioned above, is fantastic. Saturday Kitchen made a Quinoa veggie burger a couple of weeks ago. I can't do Quorn as it falls into my fungus fear zone. | |||

I don't eat anything remotely mushroomy but am eating a lot of quorn. Try the 'meat'balls. | |||
