That's under the current model. What facebook do is anyone's guess. They wouldn't be able to charge much though because there are other alternatives. Put the price up by much and they will lose their customers.

They'll slowly claw their money back by using information, not charging. Same as they do on Facebook. See what you type and show you the ads they think you will want to see. It's all about advertising

this is why I've used it 3 years and because I don't have a contract phone, I dont get X amount of free sms, so I can't live without whatsapp.

I dont work like everyone else, I'm the scum of Britain, so aint rolling in dosh to waste on text messaging.

I have free unlimited texts as part of my plan, but MMS are 25p each. WhatsApp is a lot cheaper for sending pictures. I'll mail them rather than use WhatsApp for the time being though.

I'm more concerned with privacy issues and data mining. Facebook have a liberal attitude when it comes to messing with the security of people's data and using it for financial gain.
