Non Vanilla Land

I'm a serial dieter and have been reading up on the 5:2 diet ... seems quite appealing and the science part makes sense too !!!

Anyone tried it ???

not tried it, but I joined slimming world a while back and was doing ok, lost 2 and a half stone then my weight seemed to plateau, I was sticking to the diet and doing a hour a day on the tread mill as well as cycling about all day with work but I got to a point I was only loosing a pound a week for several weeks which was getting me down as i was working really hard and felt like i deserved more than a pound a week i had heard about these grenade pills and had been told they was good so i tried them to give my weight a boost and they are really good, they have really boosted my weigh loss, after one week of taking them I lost 6 pound and have lost between 3 and 4 pound since, i still have a long way to go i just wanted something to help me along the way, they do work though

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I've tried the 5:2 diet. I got extremely crabby on the two fast days and ended not losing anything. I am going through a piggy phase at the mo but the easiest way I've lost weight is to cut out carbs after breakfast.

Dieting really is a bad habit though. Eat a bit less and move a bit more.

they are diet pills, I got mine off the internet, I know people dislike diet pills and as a rule I would say they are all a load of crap, but having tried these myself and found they are working for me I can only say I like them

that's not to say other people will or agree with taking them

Yeah I done it, lost about a stone. The fast days are a little tough at the beginning but you kind of get used to them.

Make sure you drink plenty of water on fast days.

Diets make you larger because your body shocks and absorbs every possible calorie. Dieting does not make you less fat. It makes you less healthy. Eat a good balanced diet of fresh non processed food and do regular exercise. That is how to get healthy and fit. Xx

The only way to lose weight is to eat about 1200klcal and DO lots of CARDIO its cardio most don't do and just think its about the diet .

i've read mixed reports, some say they have side affects, some say they don't, you can only decide for yourself if you want to take them, personally to loose weight faster i'm willing to take the risk as being fat isn't healthy for you, so wither way there are risks

I've only been on them 4 weeks and so far I have felt no different, infact if anything I feel better as I feel they give me more energy, i'm not planning on taking them forever, just for a few more weeks till I feel i'm at a weight where I am happy to loose a pound a week

im not trying to sell them to anyone or talk anyone into taking them, I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing, i'm just saying that as someone who has always shunned diet pills as a waste of money, I gave these a go and I have found they did speed my weight loss up a significant amount and i'm happy with the results, that's not to say everyone will have the same experience or opinion

I went vegan and have lost 4 kilos in just under three weeks. And my meals are huge!

I'm also cutting out wheat and potatoes, not because there's anything intrinsically wrong with them, but because I would be tempted to eat fattening things with them. And the only sugars I'm having are fruit sugars.

Well yes. It is a diet but you are skirting around the point really. If you do not eat enough calories, I.e. "go on a diet" in the sense of the phrase that everyone here understands, you starve your body, get fatter and less healthy.

You mean it knackers your metabolism? Apparently that doesn't happen with the 5:2 diet though as the 5 days you are eating prevents the body slowing down the metabolism. However,. it works for some and not for others.

A couple of years ago, i recall reading that when Bradley Wiggins wanted to lose weight rapidly pre-season (83kg down to 69kg was quoted) he ate only fruit on 2 to 3 days a week, subject to him not exerting much physical effort on those days.

He went on to win the Tour De France later that year.

you get fatter by not eating enough calories?

I think the main reason why fad diets are no good is not because you get fatter by not eating, if that was true all anorexics would be 20 stone surely? but because your less likely to stick to it and go back to your old eating habbits if you deprive yourself of food and allow yourself to be hungry all the time

and that's speaking from experience

I have been on many diets where I have eaten hardly anything and have still lost weight but they have only lasted a few months as the hunger has over come me and I've found it hard to stick to it any longer

I have lost count of the amount of times I have dieting and got to my target weigh only to bang it all back on again, because if you deprive yourself you will never keep it up forever

that's why a healthy balanced diet and exercise works better

Not just the doctor who wrote the book says it. Several other TV doctors has pointed out its positives.

It just boils down to a calorie restriction though, reducing your calorie intake by about 3500 per week. So it makes sense.

As someone who has tried every diet out there, lost a stone or two, stopped then put it back on. I'm now an advocate of watching my portion sizes and working out more. I still have chocolate and wine and takeaways, i just make sure i work out more, or have a good day before or after to try and limit the damage. Been doing this for 14 weeks, and this Tuesday I was exactly 60lbs (4st4lbs) lighter. Still more to go, but I feel like I'm still eating the nice food, and the gym is not that bad, that it's easy to stick to. It's hard work though dieting, good luck to everyone trying! Keep it up! Xx
