So as you may recall I bought my cats a bed each after getting laminate flooring out down as I was worried it might be too cold for them but the buggers wouldn't go near them!

Letsbe kept saying to buy some catnip to put in the beds as the cats would go crazy for it. Bought some cat nip spray at the weekend and did they go crazy??? Ummmmmm.......nope!!! I seem to have the only cats immune to cat nip lol

Have decided to sleep with the beds in my bed to get my smell on them as they seem to like sleeping on things that smell of me

Wear and old tee shirt for a night then cut it in two, put half in each bed?

Turn the heating right down! They will use them then for sure.

Probably a better idea than using the beds as pillows

Good point you need the cats colder than you so they will use them. Have you though or shaving the cats? Humanly mind at a animal shavers.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Is there any part of the flooring which has any heating pipes underneath? Put the beds there. My old cat loved sleeping directly on the laminate over warm pipes in my old flat. Either that or she'd sleep near a radiator.

She usually ignored any rugs or cushions in colder weather.

That's what I did with my old cat. I also locked her in the bathroom with no other bedding but I did put her bed over the pipes and near the radiator. It worked.

I did put the beds under the radiator in the front room. Will do a pipe search tomorrow. There ius one spot in the hall but its a bit treacherous to have them sleep there lol

That will be where they will like it then.

Neither of my dogs went in their beds and preferred to sleep just on the carpet, but that's not as bad as having colder laminate.

My first springer had a chaise longe because I thought she'd look really elegant on it, she only ever posed for photos on it and refused to sleep on it. The pup has a gorgeous soft fur bed that I wish I could fit in, but she prefers the carpet too

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Put the beds down and tell the cats firmly that they are not to even look at them.

Cats aren't stupid. If they are cold, they'll find somewhere warmer. Put the beds down and let them get on with it.

I accidentally shut my girl cat in the kitchen once. It was winter and really cold. The kitchen had a tiled floor.

When I found her the following morning, there were signs she'd climbed over everything investigating, (my cats aren't allowed on the kitchen worktops, so it was new and interesting), and she'd then pulled the tea towels hanging on the front of the oven down and made a nest.

They'll look after themselves just fine.

Have you tried putting the beds on the spot where the cats usually sleep? Also catnip spray is pretty useless, you need the real deal!

Put the beds in the next cardboard box that arrives, like kids cats can't ignore a nice new cardboard box.

Our two have a variety of sleeping places and change every 2 weeks. Cat beds would be no different. Favourite at the moment is hessian shopping bags. Never made it back to the car, cats adopted them.

That's funny because my sofa is covered in hessian tesco bags right now because the cats have taken a liking to them. They're such odd little creatures when it comes to fabrics.

Mine climbed into one of those yesterday but he won't be doing it again! On his way out he got the handle stuck round his neck so the bag 'chased' him as he tried to run away!

Bloody things. Most other cats foam at the mouth for catnip. These two insist on laying on me or inbetween us.

Think they are jealous.

They may well be. Cats do seem to be entirely capable of feeling jealousy.

Are they working together to cut off your airways?

Sometimes the male sits on my head during the night. So could well be.
