Somewhere in North Norfolk

Having had a cleaning and tidying blitz yesterday and falling asleep early, completely worn out, I've woken up with no plans for today. I'm feeling at a bit of a loose end.

The place is clean, the laundry is done, the bed has been changed...

I'm trying to come up with a plan to avoid wasting the day but can't think of much.

I could go out and buy varnish and sand and varnish a couple of shelves waiting to be put up. I don't really feel like doing that though.

I could get my drill out and put up a coat rack and some pictures, and maybe get rid of the box that's been on my living room floor for 3 months.

I could make a printer stand so I can store the blank printer paper under the printer.

Nothing is sounding fun. After yesterday's chore-fest, I want to do something fun.

Ideas? In the chaos of the last year I think I've forgotten what I enjoy doing

Time to get some fresh air. Go for a walk, maybe even borrow a dog (if you don't have one).

Plan to end up at a pub or cafe for a nice lunch.

My blasted diet is likely to scupper the lunch plan. It's very restrictive and makes eating out difficult.

The walk sounds like a good plan, if I'm not having a can't leave the house day. I couldn't get out all weekend and when I had a letter to deliver yesterday I had to get someone to come with me. I'm feeling a bit stir crazy.

I don't know anyone with a dog I could borrow though, unfortunately.

I have just thought I could spend the day rebuilding my laptop, which desperately needs it. Constructive and sort of enjoyable in an "it's nice when you stop hitting your head against the desk" way!

Or maybe I'll start the book I've been planning to write for 7 years!

I have a couple of DVDs I've been lent that I'd forgotten about though. Like the cinema but cheaper, no temptation to eat junk and no annoying people

Some great second hand book shops there, a lovely sea front a couple of nice museums and Holt is pretty nice, too

Many cafes do a homemade veggie soup which fits into most diets. Or spend five mins preparing a flask before you go - the thought of sitting on the sea front with a flask of hot soup after a bracing walk in nearly tempting enough to drive down and join you!

Nearly...

Think I'll fire up the flask and hit the hills.

Oh I'd forgotten how much I love it round there. Think I might have to look at cottage holidays now. I love wells and walsingham as well

Maybe you could get a cute guy in to do a few of those jobs you need doing, while you go for your lovely walk and if he's done a good job when you get back maybe thank him with some naughty fun x

I differentiate between read it again and not worth the bother. I try now to only buy read it agains, but sometimes I get it wrong. The rest I get from my excellent local library which is highly likely to get closed down despite being very well used.

Here too - I can never bring myself to get rid of book as I just might want to read them again!!

I have switched to using a Kindle for anything other than texts and manuals simply because my book situation had become silly. I rationalised but there are still books I regret parting with, years on.

I didn't expect to like the Kindle, as I love tangible, physical books but I get on quite well with it.

I've still got far too many books but the Kindle helps stop it getting too much worse too fast.

I read quickly and get through a lot of fiction so pre-Kindle things got out of control quite quickly.
