Sorry for being soppy here.....

I breed budgie's and have had a lot of success, I also have hens and quail.

Any how I've been placing the quail eggs in my incubator, yesterday I heard the peep peep and saw a tiny beak trying to break free, after three or four hours he still hadn't broke through. So I took the egg and very gently peeled the shell away resulting in a beautiful cute chick in my hand looking up at me cheeping away.

Thought you'd all like a feel good tale.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

My mum hand-reared a two day old kitten found by himself, soaking wet and freezing cold by the side of the road. He was gorgeous so I know exactly what you mean.

I've got so many photos from his first two months that it beggars belief.

Animals won't get by the mods - they're not allowed ! (The wrong kind of 'birds' lol!)

But a nice post!

I've been getting nagged all week by Fox and Fox cub to get something 'cute and fluffy' - ranging from kittens, to rabbits, to long haired Alsatian puppies.

Think I'll go buy a Furby - much lower maintenance!

Rochdale

Many years ago my late grandfather used to breed and show budgies, and many times I saw him assist a hatching by popping the egg into his mouth, and using his teeth and tongue and saliva to help things along.

In hindsight, definitely unsanitary, but fascinating for a small child to see.

I know the feeling well, used to have a pair of Zebra Finches. Not the hardest birds to breed, but still cute when they hatch.
