Have just heard that the delightful Nick is not intending to be present at the birth of his child .... I am aghast !!!

He's totally gone down in my estimations !!!

The decision is between him and his partner. I'm sure they will have discussed it privately and have come to the decision which best suits them.

'Twas the " fashion " to be present at the birth when my 2 little ladies came along....tbh...would rather not have been there....nothing I could do......and the missus seemed somewhat preoccupied.....

Years ago men were not permitted to attend the birth of their child. Now as we are more enlightened there is a choice. And that is what it is - a choice. It is not compulsory.

Some men never get over seeing what childbirth does to a womans bits. It can alter a sexual relationship for ever. As long as he is there for his partner and child in every way after the birth then why does he need to be present for the nuts and bolts and blood and screaming? Some people faint at a cut finger, surely that kind of man is more of a liability than an asset in a birthing suite?

Don't have baby with him then.

Has he said why he ans his partner have decided this? Do they have other children that need looking after? Is it a job relating thing, will he be filming at the time his partner is due to hive birth?

After 64 hours in labour my wife had an emergency c - section.

And I wasn't allowed anywhere near the birth.

It was more important for me to be there before and after

I read that his wife did not want him in the room, she wanted her mum or sister or something like that. He will be waiting outside the birthing room.

I cant see what the fuss is about. Surely its up to them???

His wife said she didn't want him seeing all the gore. She wanted "smoke and mirrors" just produce the baby not take any chance of the birth "putting him off".

this,apparently he was present at his other childrens birth,he is respecting her decision

Some men shouldn't be there, especially those that don't want to be. They end up not supporting their wives, always going out the room to text/ answer calls/ fags/ fresh air/ food etc etc and are more absent than present.

If she feels, and is happy with, support coming from elsewhere, either her mum or friend or sister then I would rather that happen and their be a calming and supportive delivery room than one where your battling the will of a man there by force and false duty.

I was at all four of our sons births even one emergancy c-section, i found it very interesting and made me appreciate what my wife went through to bring our lovely boys into the world. Some guys carn't cope with gore and pass out, so its upto the couple & not the media to judge. It could have been worse he could have been taking all the crew, workers & cameras from "DIY SOS" in with him lol.

The important thing is the baby is safe and well along with mum. good luck to them both
