Just because someone has a lot of money and can repair damaged doesn't make it any less upsetting. Houses hold memories and no amount of money can restore those once lost.

It's a heartless headline true but still none less upsetting for the person involved.

I just wish they'd put it in context. I'm sad for the people affected but it's around 2000 properties or so I'm led to believe yet it's been the main news focus for weeks. But when the floods hit Yorkshire in 2007 over 23,000 homes where affected yet very little coverage and certainly limited government involvement!!!

Gloucester

like most George pays his tax in the UK The real problem here is the 100million or so being thrown at this , If you say wanted the weather proof the railways in the UK the current cost for that is 400 million . that's on todays costings. so in say 5 years it will be 450 million . Sounds radical but lets pause are overseas aid for say 6 months (im sure the indian space race can wait a little longer for are aid money) and put this into flood defence .

They can't go back 7 years to make amends can they? Should the news channels apologise for not giving Yorkshire as much coverage?
