Cameron stopped the funding for work to stop the flooding around the country, and now says the government will now clear up the aftermath 'no matter the costs'.

Typical ******* tory government, crap, look after the rich ones and **** the working people, let alone those who can't get a job.

Boston council are too busy building new properties for those who have never paid tax in this country, I'm the least racist person in the world, its the system that stinks.

Tell that to the people in Boston and the surrounding areas that are on the social housing list that are born in this country.

Its time everyone stopped being so PC and put ourselves in the shoes of those who are less fortunate, you might think differently about the world as you see it.

It's a tough world out there, and soon the tories will have the less fortunate in workhouses. Just you wait.

sorry, but i'm a live & let live type of person who believes we can all live side by side so dont want to get into a discussion re those who have come to live & work in the uk.

i just thought that maybe the cash that we MAY have got will now be diverted (as well as some of the devon/somerset cash) now that the governments mates have got a bit of a puddle in their gardens

I'm a live and let live and have no problems with people coming to WORK over here.

I'm a socialist, and therefore look to help the people and not the elite.

Back to the subject.

If Boston didn't apply for the money, how would the mess get cleared up?

I'm far from being a tory supporter but did anyone see these floods and this weather coming? Maybe i missed all the warnings from the met office (and I'm Nott blaming them either). Think they call it an act of god.

There was a soothsayer the other day rambling on about how they had warned the Government this would happen. The fact that this is the greatest rainfall in the 187 years since records began seems to be being ignored.

I am very sorry for all those affected but there is little the Government can do until it is over. My father (an engineer) always said, "live on a hill because you won't get flooded" so I am ok; even if my Taxes will increase to pay for those with pretty river views.

Agreed the rainfall has been very heavy, but the fact is Cameron & co stopped all funding for flood defenses, dredging etc...

Prevention is better than the cure springs to mind?? Do you wear a condom to protect yourself or catch a disease and then go to the Doctors? Simple isn't it!

Ans if they'd have continued ploughing the money into flood defences at the expense of something someone else thinks is more important they'd have got slagged off for that as well. They can't win lol

well they have increased taxes for working families and lowered it for the rich, so there's a start?

Its costs us something like £90m a day to be in the EU, money well spent??

List can go on can't it!

Its a strange type of 'socialism' and not one i recognise which discriminates between between UK 'tax payers' and those who qualify for social housing by us being in the EU..

sweeping generalisations with a lack of information eg. have all the 'indigenous' applicants for social housing ever actually contributed etc..?

if folks are here and working and they qualify for social housing then thats that, they qualify..

Am not a fan of this present lot but as for Cameron stopping all flood defences etc then thats clearly bollocks as whilst there have been cuts the budget is still there and post previous floods, 03 and 07 houses across the country have been protected..

projects are commencd as they may well be after the latest flooding under one administration and usually take time to complete..

saying whomever has stopped x,y or z just limits any debate to a 'they're all bad, were all good' position...

fact is for the 'working class' both of the last 2 administrations have in some area's failed them with child poverty still remaining high..

Hi,

No Cameron & co did cut the funds for flood defenses.

I've personally experienced highs and low financially and follow politics very closely, so know what its like to live on both sides.

I see how things are changing in this country, and volunteer at a local food bank, its not people on JSA that make up the highest percentage of families in need, its working families who simply can't afford to live, this is due to cuts in tax credits and prices forever going higher, forcing people out of their homes, wanting social housing, but the list is so great they can end up on the streets, or even committing suicide. I've seen and heard things first hand, and the current government are killing off joe everyman to keep the blue blood rich happy.

another thing our council has recently done, is to change ALL the signs on the lights where pedestrians cross.

now there is a sign on every single post at every single crossing in and around the town that used to say "cross when the green man is on.

they must have spent thousands changing them all to say "cross when the green person is on"

political correctness gone mad ??

"Hi,

yes they did but thats not stopping ALL funding is it..?

its not correct to say it and just allows any argument about the wrongs that the current lot in power to be diluted..
