...alone in a restaurant. ....

A new experience for me but I was starving after shopping all afternoon....and actually I rather enjoyed it! No need to make polite conversation with someone I really dont want to talk to....I can take as long as I like over my food...reading my book...glass of wine...and someone else doing the cooking AND washing up!

Whats not to like? ???

I'd hate to do it just because I'd worry people were talking about me saying 'look at the fatty who is eating alone'

But that's because I have self esteem issues. I know people don't give a flying one what I do lol

I've only done this during the day and I enjoyed myself too. Treated myself to a pamper / shopping / dining out day last birthday. One couple gave me funny looks but that actually made me smile - seeing as they looked like they were sucking lemons!

Ah you cant think that way. I used to get very self conscious about everything but not now..

In fact..its the opposite! I feel super confident about doing stuff alone...sometimes I prefer it as I dont need to wait for others...

Its an attitude to be honest...if you feel like the 'fatty' (your words, not mine!)..then you will appear that way! Confidence is attractive!!!!! Work it baby!

I have realised recently that I genuinely couldn't care less but then there is a bit of a rebel in me..

I can make those you know.

Well, its actually more of a rolled up pancake, I'm not sure of the exact culinary definition of a crepe.

Crepe is a very thin pancake, not like American ones.

Eating alone ensures I have the best company going. But I do like to have reading material though.

It feels a bit weird in your own town, but feels totally ok when you're in a different city for work etc. Weird that.

I used to work away from home, so I did it a lot. Trust me the novelty soon wears off.

Lol. I know this us a wild generalisation but it seems to me that the ones who really knock themselves out at buffet restaurants are the elderly, it's like the first day at Harrods sale.

Lets she say I seen some take the full load of king prawns at a buffet style diner before now. she had every one they had out from both dishes, must of been about 40 of them. I can understand taking all of them from one but both is just plan greedy and bad manners. Upset my friend big time as they are the best one he know off. Need less to say they did not bring anymore out when we where there.

May sound sad, but my job led to eating out as a hobby. But my friends couldnt understand spending £100 plus on a meal. So i used to go alone all the time to 1, 2, and 3 michelin star restaurants. No one cares and you nearly always get chatting to someone. I was talking to an old couple in le gavroche in london and they ended up paying for my lunch!

"I keep seeing the thread title as 'eating little kittens' oops "

That's just Digestives I think.

I used to eat out alone a fair bit and always on holiday as I don't usually have anyone with whom to holiday. People always talk to me, even when I try and bury myself in a book.

Fab has changed that a bit as I will sometimes meet people for a meal so save my eating out pennies for those meets.
