Peter Kay back on nights

Phoenix nights and his first stand up tours were class and fantastic not herb humour

I think Peter went a bit shit for a while with the Geraldine stuff

But just watching his " back on nights tour" tonight it proves Kay is a comedy genius

As a Bolton lad I have to say he's quality and pisses all over the likes of manford , McIntyre and the other unfunny comedians

I love Peter Kay, but my best friend (a Southerner) just doesn't get him. I think his humour is very regional. On his DVD Top of the Tower, you see my Gran at the beginning dancing on camera, me sat next to her hiding with embarrassment!!!

I really don't get the Peter Kay thing, all his stand ups are the same, once you've seen one you've seen them all, I caught a bit last night and he was saying in his stand up, oh bit of blue bit of blue for the dads, which is in every thing I've ever seen him do

Also Phoenix nights and max and paddy were about as funny as syphilis

My favorite lines were from Pheonix Nights.

Potter arrives at the club, Max and Paddy were on the door and Paddy asked him "What's on tonight boss?"

Potter replied "Some Country and Western"

Max asked Paddy "What did he say?"

Paddy replird "Some cunt from Preston"

Phoenix Nights and That Peter Kaye thing were very sharply realised observations of the absurdities of situations and owe a big debt to the writing team. These are good.

His stand up is now fairly lazy, though. His first one was good as it was new. Not many comedians worked on reminiscing about our shared elements of growing up, but he hasn't really moved on from it.

However, he's in that nice position of being a known wit and can get away with bad material.

Dave Starkey is very under rated and others get ignored. So I am glad you mentioned the writing team Tina. Peter Kay was luckily ( for him ) the front man. Look at Paddy , loveable as he is he got his fame or infamy from simply being Peter's pal .... nepotism or what.

Was your night out good ?

It was great!

Dave Spikey's autobiography is really interesting. Paddy McGuiness has been lucky with building a career off of Mr Kay's back. He's no funnier than your average white van man

Phoenix nights was comedy genius

From the old bloke who passed away in the club

To the bouncy castle with a huge inflatable cock that they made into a snake

From when jerry st. Claire asked for his scare with his bowels to be a top secret and the n paddy just says " what's up with him ? Is he still shitting blood ? "

Pmsl

Neil fitzmaurice who also co wrote Phoenix nights was class

On the kids rides " hold tight girls , here we go , the louder you scream the faster you go " shabbba

And the guy who just lied all the time they sprayed his face as a tiger and it was like that for weeks and weeks

Nobody mentioned it

Just absolute class writing and comedy at its best

Funny wherever you live. Saw him in Bristol - our local theatre - and he was just naturally a funny boy.

Been quoting lines back and forth in our family since Top of the Tower video c1999?

Could watch it right now.

'I don't wanna come home to a dirddy houise'!

Yes.

You like him, lots of people like him. He's a very popular comedian.

I don't think he's all that though. There's probably people who I think are comedy geniuses that you think are shit.
