YES - mines 11 and into adult clothing, have had real problems getting swim suits suitable, so last year it was Speedos all the way, did get a bikin and took all padding out but it didnt sit right at all.

Padded bikinis for children are not uncommon in France and Italy, have seen them many times on children when abroad.

Always thought it was tasteless but not surprised they have turned up for sale in the UK.

I don't have the luxury of getting kids clothing for my daughter any more shes 11 and is currently 5 foot 1 and a ladies size 10. Its incredibly hard to get tops for her that don't look like shes on the pull or going to a nightclub, most tend to be low cut, waisted and have an undertone of sex, it makes shopping tense and stressfully as she wants whats fashionable and I want whats appropriate and there not always the same. Even shops that cater for teenagers have wildly inappropriate clothing (IMO)

i have a daughter of 13 she is size 10, aprrox 5ft and size 6 in shoes, clothes for that age should be suitable for then as i feel that some clothes on the market are too low cut and make them look older than they are, i certainly would not let my daughter go out at that age in an outfit that made her look older than she is.... unlike a few of her friends who do and its not right

I had the same problem with all my girls. They were the jeans ans sweatshirt types, but when going out they wanted to look "girlie". Nigh on impossible to find clothes that didn't make them look like tarts or maiden aunts.

My youngest is 18 and still finds it hard to find suitable clothing as she hates flaunting too much flesh and sometimes feels uncomfortable as guys seldom look in her face as she's 32g...buying bras for her is another story!!

I have 2 daughters aged 7 and almost 12.

Both wear what I buy and like it cos I tell them that when they are the ones who bring the money into the house they can choose what they wear until them I am their mother and I will buy what I feel is suitable.

My almost 12 year old has slightly padded bras - cos thats all I could get in her size in my local town, now these bras are plain, no lace, no embroidery no slogans just plain unwired sleep type bras. She tells me she will wear them forever cos no matter who sees her getting changed (in school changing rooms) they cant see anything. Whereas a mate of hers gets ripped to pieces everytime the girls are getting changed for PE cos she wears lace bras (like I got when I was that age) and "when she gets cold the boys make saddo comments" both girls are about the same size bra but my daughter has the support she needs in her bras and doesnt get teased by the boys in her class.

As for padded bikinis well in a word NO never gonna happen cos I wont let my almost 12 year old wear a bikini. She is too developed for it to look sweet and innocent but she isnt mature enough to understand that teenage boys are teenage boys. Neither is she mature enough to know that wearing clothes to old (or looking that way) are a bad idea for her and as her mother it is my duty to protect her from herself, which at her age means loads of fights over the length of her school skirts and me grounding her for trying to go out wearing a hip length top with footless tights

But I know in later years she will thank me for not encouraging her to grow up too quickly.

i see they have withdrawn them but what feckwit thought it was a good idea in the first place!

Mind you on holiday last year i saw a 12 year old with "porn star in training" on her t shirt,so some parents obviously have no problem with this.Personally i think kids should be kids ,and my boys are encouraged to climb trees,build dens,run around.But then i get critsised for allowing them to do dangerous things,sometimes it seems you just cant win!

Completely agree I ran into the same problem re the padded bras, re the lace ones I sorted that easily got her one of the stiffest, scratch ones I could fine in a size to small, its been worn once and she has never looked for another similar – call me evil if you want but as these need to be changed regularly I don’t want to keep having the same battle/conversation each time. Shes now happy to be fitted and the only choices given to her are the plain non wired, we have a lovely collection in white pink and lemon

Its not evil to dress a young girl as a young girl - I know with my daughters its like world war 3 everytime I have to take them shopping.

I told my daughter she could have the bra she wanted, then showed her some I have and she said the only ones she liked were the unwired maternity ones I got for after my skin graft

I was out shopping one day and noticed a shop my daughter likes to shop in had a HUGE sale on, I spent £15 on bras and got 7 for her all light pink, white or spotty all meant for teenagers none had any lace or slogans, because my daughter may be almost 12 but she is still a child who needs to dress her age not mine.

BUT there is a world of difference between a slightly padded (just enough to stop stiff nips showing)bra and a padded bikini, the bra will not be seen by anyone other than the wearer and the person doing the washing since it will be hidden under clothing, the bikini will be seen by all and sundry at the poolside or beach - and can make a young girl look much much older than she really is.

My oldest daughter does not need help in that respect cos she already looks older then she is, so IF I was to allow her to wear a bikini when down the beach she may be mistaken for a 15 year old but she doesnt have the maturity to deal with that sort of unwanted attention - I say unwanted cos my oldest thinks all boys smell and still eat bogies

things like that scare me as mine is 9 but i buy the clothes i make the decision and dont care if it world war 3 or tears and tantrums!!!

body concious is bad enough when you older but when your a child its not fair!

mine does wear bikinis etc but they kiddie ones not little miss world ones there is too much pressure on them as it is without adding more but luckily mine a bit of a tomboy and involves copious amounts of blackmail to get her into a dress and hair done and long may it last!

there a kid in her class hair all dyed and cut goes to school with false nails and heels on and totally inappropriate clothes for out playin etc and make up and i mean the full works mascara the lot she not a child she a mini adult and it scares me xx

Yes totally agree - glad they've stopped selling them - on the flip side - I wore a bra for the first time when I was about 14 and the boy behind me asked if 'if you had no feet would you wear shoes'? when i said no - he asked me why I was wearing a bra! boo hoo - not grown much since then either! Z

I heard the news on the radio when I was coming home from work this afternoon. By the that time the bras were being removed from the shelves. I don't know what they looked like so find it difficult to comment. I don't know if they were lightly padded for comfort and style or if they were produced to look like boobs. Either way I find it unecessary. What went through my head though were other things that don't seem to have outraged anyone. Not that I know of anyhow.

E.G. Playboy Innocuous enough you'd think. I can ignore Hugh Hefner and his empire. He's just another part of the sex industry. BUT - A few years ago the playboy bunny became 'unadult only' , legitimised, mainstream , accepted. Put your own word in I can't think of one.

The Playboy Logo is on ( and has been for ages ) Pencil cases, pencils, pens, T shirts, bags .... the lot! They are openly on sale in places like Ethel Austins, Woolies and other downmarket shops .... Don't know about W.H.Smith .. but i'd argue they are there.

It's not a case of Logo's like this being 'non sexual' as if the bunny is cute. It is subliminal advertising. It is legitimising the 'objectness' of women to serve men. It is accustomising young children with the industry and allowing them to accept and view as normal and harmless something which I view as seedy and pernicious. It's even on children's spec frames ffs.

I was so pleased to read some of the mum's comments here. I thought being an adult died out with my generation. So many parents that I see now just buy their children anything. It's as if the state has put it in the shops so no one questions it. Got to say I feel the same about the T.V most of the time.

I discovered about two years ago that I have an X rated adult channel. I laughed like hell .... I don't watch it ...tried.. but it's crap. Thing is if I can just have porn pumped into my home and not even know I have the channel in my package then there have been major shifts in attitudes that Im nto even aware of.

Children today are privvy to FAR more sex and violence than we ever were. I don't know if it's too late to make a stand and that is what scares me for our children's futures.

American pageants sicken me. Little girls dressed like prostitutes and paraded if they 'look' good. Getting prizes if they are 'pretty' and 'girlie' ..... That's over here too now. Mothers spending thousands on clothes and competitions instead of investing it in their childrens education or family holidays etc....

Tons more stuff on T.V and in magazines I don't agree with. In my day ... Jackie magazine etc dealt with - How can I get rid of my spots. Or How do I get him to ask me out. Nowadays kids magazines tell them how to give blow jobs and discuss whether to swallow or not ..... ffs ! It's not really surprising that padded bras happened it is it ? With role models like girls have.

We need to start a FabMaryWhitehouseBrigade.

granny i didnt know i had porn channels till one nite kiddo was tryin to find benidorm on tv and it was on the itv english channel till she shouted mum extreme babies what is it?? i ran through from kitchen and some harpy was rollin about half in the buff!! luckily discovered how to lock those channels!!

as for playboy i agree completely the playboy stuff is aimed at children and i dont care what anyone says its wrong!! yet another item i refuse to buy why the hell promote porn and how to be a bimbo to little girls!! xx

I mentioned the Playboy thing on another thread a year or so ago. It's outragious that Playboy are allowed to promote their brand via innocuous items like pencil cases etc to children knowing full well that one day those kids will be adults. It is commercial exploitation in the most despicable of ways. How are young girls supposed to protect themselves from exposure to sex when Playboy are in their lives from a very early age.

The Playboy UK clothing and accessory license was sold off to an Anglo Indian company a few years ago, they also own the UK rights for Lambretta, Hello Kitty and a few other clothing/accessory marks.

So the stuff you see in UK shops and markets with a Playboy logo has little to do with Hefner and the Playboy Corperation, they just sell licenses to use their logo in countries all over the world.

The company is called Groovy UK, they buy up licenses for hundreds of thousands or in the case of Playboy a couple of million I think.

All the stuff is made in India and China, it's all cheap old crap.

Jo and I were out at a play park with our kids a couple of days ago and were discussing how parents seem to sexualise their daughters.

By sexualise, I mean dress them in short skirts, makeup, heels etc... If they are doing this to the kids at a young age, what will the kid want to wear when they are young teens ffs?

Can understand that some of it will be peer pressure but the parents need to step back and have a strong word with themselves!!

I think a line needs to be drawn between sexualising young girls and letting them play with make up. Doesn't every young girl watch her mother putting her face on and then play her make up bag, go put her mum's high heels on and prance about with the young at heart attitude that only a child can possess?

Padded bikinis, no, but a bit of warpaint never hurt anyone, cept perhaps General Custer.
