There is more than likely going to be a shortage of sugar in the next few years.

Other cultures have taken quite a liking to sugary foods but more importantly new batteries are in development that run from sugar (and water) which will wipe out current supply as soon as they become commercial (so they will be in everything as they are 10x more powerful than lithium ion batteries).
