Hi does anyone know if a tax return needs to be done if registered self employed on 30/04/13, had nothing in post to say it should be done this year.

Fill in today. Post Special next Day Delivery

To reach them tomorrow. Which is last date. Before they start fining you by THE DAY

Special delivery cost to pos £6-22

Tax returns that need to be done by end if jan are for the tax year ending 5/4/13

And you can only do on line ...the deadline for paper returns was in october....but you shouldn't need to do one

Not due yet thats still within the current tax year. That will not be due till end of jan 2015 believe it or not if done online. You cant submit a return in your current tax year cos you dont know how much you are gonna earn from now till april. Hope this makes sense.

Did mine online when prompted on the forum to do it, paid it, they refunded my payment, so phoned and asked why... then paid it again! expecting a refund tomorrow, followed by an overdue fine next week

But to the OP, not for that business, depends on what you were doing in tax year for 2012 / 2013.

That will be due for the tax year 2013/2014....so in October 2014 for paper or January 2015 for online.

if you earn anything that isn't covered by PAYE then you have to confess all to the tax man who then charges you for confessing, and sometimes calls you a liar and charges you more

No, you haven't done a full year yet so it's be next winter it becomes due.

I've just got a bit of maths to do to finish mine today, phew!

you wont have to fill out one this year. HMRC will send you a form at the beginning of the next tax year, if you fill out the paper, it has to be in before october. Online its jan
