How many of you do this as a form of greeting someone? Those that do do you judge the other person on the way they shake your hand?

I do to older guys not to people my age or younger and if I don't like them, I don't at all. I can't stand men with sweaty hands. A firm short grip and let go.

Goes wrong when I try because I usually forget myself and put out my left hand as I'm left handed which just confuses people, so I usually don't bother or wait for them to proffer their hand first.

I greet people with a handshake, but I don't judge them on it. I'm a martial artist so I sometimes also greet by bowing - I think the Japanese have it right in judging by actions rather than the firmness of a handshake.

As a force of habit, I always shake hands as a form of greeting someone, but never judge anyone by how strong or feeble their handshake is.

Only in a formal situation. The women in my family don't kiss hello or goodbye, only my mum gets a kiss from us. The men all shake hands though

Some people are of the belief (myth) that a strong handshake is a sign of a strong personality. Never washed with me though.

In work I tend to greet with a handshake and yes I also tend to judge on it as well.

Like a firm grip and a positive shake.

Can't stand a sweaty limp excuse for a handshake

Socially a kiss on the cheek

If I'm in a business setting then I'll greet by shaking hands & yes it needs to be a good, firm shake, limp ones don't do it for me!

Otherwise socially it's a kiss on both cheeks ~ mwah x

I have a delicate handshake. It's the eye contact they are focusing on

I do, they make you do at the beginning of football games now usually. Can always tell which ones are who are afraid of a challenge usually as it feels like you are shaking hands with a dead fish.

Lerbon James' hand shake at the NBA still makes me laugh, here is a link if you haven't seen it. Apologies for the music.. Wasn't me that uploaded.

In the bike club scene it's the done thing to greet men with a hand shake, and if close a hug goes with it, women get a cheek kiss usually, but only if they are known or introduced to you, problem comes when you greet your bank manager with a biker style reverse handshake it becomes a habit!

As for judging, it's not the handshake that counts it's the look, never trust a guy who won't look you in the eye when shaking your hand.

I shake but prefer to hug, and it seems common for professional relationships to move that way for me,or at least a kiss. I do wonder about someone when shakes are all limp, as if they are but a zombie body, and their personality has gone awol. I can hypnotise from handshakes, so beware if you are limp or spaced out.

I moved to the UK 5 years ago and it confuses me a lot as I hesitate wether to forward my hand for greating a man or not as I tend to get different reactions. Where I come from Shaking man to man for greating is the common norme wether you know them or not. Wether its business related socially or what ever. Kissing twice on the cheek is to show affection to familly members and friends that you haven't seen for more than a day wether they are same or oppsit sex. I think its seen as gay here if its the same sex. I need another 5 years here to get used to the system lol

I'm a lefty and I have made this mistake before lol.

Only shake hands for business and formal meetings. The only time I'm put off is if someone holds on a little too long in an awkward or creepy way and im not crazy about the 2 hand handshake. Usually borders on the creepy side.

Hubby always shakes hands with men and definitely judges them by their grip.

In business I always the premises manager or higher with a handshake . Upn meeting but You also know the guys that like a handshake on every meet from reaction of first handshake

Also upon sealing a deal with any man

In my charity life every man who turns up or i meet as my capacity of the position I hold

I like to know which of my customers and contacts are Freemasons

In real life no one ever gets a handshake I will only kiss a woman or tranny hello in real life and men that are known well and personally a bear hug . Unless they are gay then it's a kiss to cheek

Lol complicated isn't it following the correct etiquette
