Great shame. There was a documentary on TV last year about Woody Guthrie that Pete Seeger appeared in. Makes you wonder who is today's equivalent of these great protest singers and songwriters.

To be fair - and this is a massive overgeneralisation I know - but young people to me don't seem to be terribly militant anymore. Not compared to even 30 years ago.

Or have I fallen into that bloody age trap?

Protest song is still alive but more usually found in pubs, cafes and at house concerts.

I can't see Bob Dylan or Joan Baez making it onto Saturday night talent contests.
