The sitcom thread got me thinking about Richard beckingsale. Star of two of the biggest sitcoms of the 70s. Porridge and rising damp. Only 32 when he died, I'm sure he would of gone on to be a great film actor.

I couldn't remember so cheated, I just googled it. 3 of them died, one after receiving heart/lung transplant, heather O'Rourke, had a operation for a stomach thing, died of septic shock. The girl who played her older sister in the first movie, was murdered by her (ex)? boyfriend off set.

stomach cancer for other guy, heather had bowel problems, led to septic shock. they said they originally thought she had flu!! she died on the operating table.

Totally.. and I respect your opinion.. My point was that a lot of celebrities waste there own lives in the pursuit of happiness.. through drugs, drink or whatever... There is nothing wrong with live fast die young but dont expect me to mourn there passing.. no matter how talented!!

I think I just _iew it in a very different way...

When someone talented dies, I see it as a loss, Amy Winehouse for example, was a drug addict, as I don't know her personally, I wouldn't judge her over that, the fact that she was incredibly talented and loved by many and is now dead, makes me sad. It's a loss, and a real shame in my opinion that she and so many other talented people died so young, no matter what the reasons were.

I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, often fucked things up in ways I'm not proud of, I hope people wouldn't judge me for those mistakes when I die....

WW1, WW2, Falklands, Iraq, Afghanistan and all the brave soldiers that die way too soon defending our freedom and liberty and protecting us against Tyranny and oppression..

I was actually thinking of the 1922 film "Blood and Sand" when I first saw this. Ironically, the main star of that was Rudolph Valentino, who also died too young - he was just 30 years of ago.

When does a person die "too young" or "before their time"?

Most of the celebrities mentioned above are only remembered because they died at the height of their fame. If they had continued their early legacies may have been tarnished by their current output *can't be arsed to mention numerous musicians, actors and Bruce Forstyth*

There is no definitive time to die, ergo no-one dies before their time.

You say that, but a very close family friend of ours died last weekend and he was just 65. In our eyes, he was taken far too young. He had so much more to do in life. Had just remarried 18 months earlier. Had just become a great grandad.

No, I don't subscribe to that theory but "too soon" for what?

Is there a set age a person must achieve before their passing is deemed timely?

Is it written that everyone should die at a ripe old age surrounded by loved ones?

It'd be standing room only if all these 'too soons' went when they were supposed to.
