Avoid too much white food (bread, potatoes and pasta) and eat plenty of veg and fruit. Simple but effective.

I don't see the point of depriving myself of the food that I love, just cut down on the portion size and exercise more is sufficient to lose weight slowly and steadily for me.

I try to make my meals a balanced one with protein, carbs and veg, plus a bit of lipid to make them tasty.

I'm inclined to agree with the everything in moderation way of eating while making sure that of you didn't before you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. Not knowing what your diet was like before makes it difficult to say what kind of meals might be new to you.

The Christmas podge has taken over... So need to cut out chocolate, crisps etc.

For breakfast I generally eat 1 weetabix with warm milk or wholemeal toast or fruit n fibre.

Lunch I have sandwich or jacket potato.

Dinner I have stir fry or pasta bake or salmon or jacket potato.

Night times are my weakness :

Try alternatives to sandwiches, a salad bowl, sushi etc. Loads of sandwich bars and supermarkets now offer non bread options. Of course every now and then a sandwich is great, just experiment and as others have said, everything in moderation.

I used to be like that with sushi/sashimi, try it, I've grown to love it!

Cherries are working for me at the moment, every time I want something naughty I get a bowl of them and snack away. Other than that try things like crisp bread and other low fat things to nibble on and choose a couple of days when you can have chocolate etc but be good on the majority of days.

A lot of pre-made food is pretty high in fat (and salt, sugar, additives etc) so I try and steer clear.

Peaches, if you go to any Chinese store or go online, you can buy the same stuff for half the price. It's called konnyaku or shirataki noodles.

I know its not a meal but instead of snack eat blueberries and raspberries as they are full of nutrients.

For meals, homemade curry is a good meal for dinner if you use low fat cream and such, however if you get from shops and that it isn't healthy due to what they cook it in.

Another meal that is quite nice and healthy is steak with boiled potatoes and green beans and spinach.

Or tuna and pasta, although the pasta can contain a lot of carbs depending which you use.

Need any more help feel free to PM me, I know a fair amount about nutrition and have sorted a few friends of mine meal plans.

Its not about eating completely clean though, you can eat dirtily its just the amount of what you eat.. You could use an app on your phone called "Myfitnessnespal" its basically a calorie counter that helps reach goals of losing, maintaining and gaining weight. Feel free to give it a look, helped me out, although it can get a bit tedious putting the meals in that you eat.
