Scaring yourself

Has anyone else started out pretty calm and managed to scare themselves?

I did a few years ago. I was out dogging and ended up inside a big mobile home with two chaps. They were basically travelling merchants, who mixed dogging spots with selling exotic tobacco and pirate dvds (nothing with Errol Flynn, sadly) and the talk turned to horror films. After 20 minutes discussing vampires, wearwolves, zombies and odd balls with chainsaws, I no longer fancied wandering into the wood.....

I read the world war z book while my housemate was on holiday. Not a good move I had to go to bed with the lights on and was worried in case I didn't hear the zombies coming in from the sea

Yes, on my own in my grans house, doors creaking, strange noises, was quaking under my quilt....and hour later I heard a piercing scream.....that was it I had to go down to investigate...shitting my self I went down the stairs sloooowly......ready to face the scary monsters and ghosts that I had heard......I had only gone and left the television on!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I scared myself awake screaming in my sleep once. That was freaky as I have no idea why I was screaming and I thought it was coming from outside before I realised it was me.

I sometimes night fish on my own at a otherwise deserted lake, usually i really enjoy the peace and solitude but very occasionally I can work myself up into a paranoid frenzy where every noise is a crazy mad axe murderer. It's funny how the brain works and can find the same situation sometimes relaxing and sometimes terrifying
