Ok, I was on a work night out last night, and the conversation was started off by a guy saying all men watched porn etc and one female was adamant her husband didn't, I was agreeing that 75% did but up'ed it to 95% once had a few more guys reactions, then the conversation was turned round to me by a female colleague who knows I am single and have been for years, obviously I did not mention the site (my discretion is a must) but I said, yes I am single but I do enjoy and need sex! However, the best type is all day/night sessions............the reaction I got from most of the single guys was complete shock! Ie, they could not fathom out the idea of an all day/night session and one even said, they only lasted 5 minutes....And the thought of an all day one scared the hell out of him, I had to get a young married man to try and explain what I meant! Now I do not class myself as a swinger but HELLO! Surely the vanilla world is not really that vanilla???

I understand that "vanilla" is a term used by swingers for non swingers, but surely it's not a term that can be used for boring sex?

I guess some couples are content with a mundane lights off missionary shag once a month ,then there's couples who fuck each other's brains out and are kinky with it, different ends of the sexual spectrum, but both vanilla if they don't involve others .

I don't speak to anyone outside of fab about sex. The only sexual connotations are the crap innuendos and double entendres I make. Even those get frowned upon. Friends, colleagues.....totally non sexual. I can't imagine any of them getting tangled up in a group sex situation.

But that's what I am saying! I don't class myself as a swinger as I only do 1-1 meets, but I was shocked that men had this attitude!

I often find myself having to bite my tongue on nights out with non fab friends. Its funny when they start speaking about stuff to do with sex and turning up their noses at things I have tried, their faces are hilarious if the subject of fem fun comes up, I wonder what they would think if I just came out with don't knock it till you've tried it hehe

I really do think vanilla relationships are like that and I am worried about it. I nearly gave into a vanilla relationship because I fell in love with the guy, luckily he treated me badly and I now see I wouldn't have been happy with vanilla forever. I won't settle for a boring man in the bedroom next time

I think the term vanilla refers to 'plain normal sex that doesn't involve kink or B DSM nothing to do with involving others.

I've gotta admit, I don't really like the term 'vanilla' for people who don't swing. At the end of the day, good sex is good sex and it isn't the sole preserve of people who swing.

I didn't think the op was derogatory. I just read it as a term to explain she meant non-swingers.

Lots of swingers are vanilla.
