"It doesn't have to be expensive in Waitrose if you shop well. I love my Waitrose and not just because most of the staff know me now but because even at its busiest it is still calm. " Tescos is very noisy, Aldi was like a morgue, Waitrose has an air of quality about it and some things are not hugely expensive either.

"I would love one close by why ..what is in there that you cant get in other stores ?" Its a totally different shopping experience. Go to Tesco you think what crap can I buy. But Waitrose is what delicious nutritious meal can I eat tonight. That's how I see it

" The prepared meat aisle had three items for £10 before Christmas. Three chickens for £10 is good value and even more so because I trust the Waitrose meat production values.

But Waitrose is what delicious nutritious meal can I eat tonight. That's how I see it" Along with the service: last summer I bought a punnet of raspberries and as I was going out to the car I went to open them but saw a creepy crawly in with them. I took them in and they replaced them for me and gave me a tub of ice-cream to go with them as a goodwill gesture.

They are now choosing and delivering on their own but Ocado still delivers for them too . I think Ocado offer Morrisons as well now. Waitrose also has a shop and deliver option so you can choose your own stuff, leave it there and they will deliver it later. Plus you can collect your John Lewis order at your Waitrose.

"I like waitrose and always pop in for my free coffee when in town. Some things are more expensive but for things like meat seems to be better quality than tesco. I get really annoyed in tesco if I'm honest!" My free coffee goes to waste. I should insist that they provide something for those of us who don't drink tea or coffee. The coffee machine in my Waitrose is on the bakery counter which makes it difficult to get to cakes sometimes.

"do you think waitrose use different supppiers for meat than asda or tesco do ?" Yes. They have farm arrangements that can be checked. They also have their own Waitrose farms and their own production plant for ready meals.

There are too many cafes around, including one next door, for my little Waitrose to have a cafe.

As someone who hates shopping, it needs to be relaxing, nice cup of coffee whilst im browsing too. Find weekly shopping is cheaper too, less temptation with crap

"you really need to get into one of these processing plants to be honest ...its exactly the same meat that goes into marks and spencers that goes into aldis ...yes they can call a shout on fat content but it is the same meat " That's the Waitrose difference. They have moved more of their food into production they own and control. Their arrangements with British farmers includes long term planning and investment and they handle their own butchery.

"you really need to get into one of these processing plants to be honest ...its exactly the same meat that goes into marks and spencers that goes into aldis ...yes they can call a shout on fat content but it is the same meat " The supermarkets do all use a small number of processing plants however its not all the same meet each supermarket makes contracts with the farmers and each beast from field to point of sale is fully documented some use English suppliers others foreign but there is a significant difference to who buys which livestock at what price.

"It doesn't have to be expensive in Waitrose if you shop well. I love my Waitrose and not just because most of the staff know me now but because even at its busiest it is still calm. " Agreed, if you shop clever it can be as economical as most supermarkets - however, we find that the temptation to treat ourselves is too great on most occasions x & the calmness is worth paying a few pence more
