"love them. walking dead is brilliant too. prefer the slow stupid ones to the newer speedy ones"

The speedy ones aren't zombies-they are the infected

I love zombie films and books! The cheesy ones as well as the scary ones.

And I love films and books featuring the infected too.

For me, the more blood and gore and sick an twisted plots, the better.

Zombies-main aim is to feed. They will go for the easiest food source so won't always leave a food source to chase the living.

Infected-main aim is to spread infection but will feed to preserve themselves enabling them to spread the infection further so will leave food if any uninfected are seen.

Do airsofting instead-hell of a lot cheaper, the guns are much better. Better shooting range too and it's easier to carry extra mags. Your spare ammo won't pop when you lie down for cover!

Depends on what kind it is.

I like zombieland but I hate that lameass zombie love story film. It's just Romeo and Juliet with zombies.

La Horde is one of the best zombie films I've seen.

I've said this many times as people still get it wrong: 28 days/weeks later are NOT zombie films.

Walking Dead is ok but my god do they drag it out/hire shit, boring actors.

Titz Towers, North Notts

Watching the Walking Dead, it made me ponder about Zombie Apocalypses. Obviously in town on a Saturday night, it would be challenging trying to work out who was a Zombie and who was just d*unk and trying to find their way home.

In America, they have plenty of guns. Here, I'd have to make do with a sharp spade and possibly a cricket bat.

However, would zombies show different national stereotypes? Would the French Zombie be particularly well dressed and incredibly rude whilst it chased you? Would the German zombie be 10% more efficient but bamboozled if you put on a uniform and order it about? Would the Italian zombie spend more time going backwards than forwards?

Things like this keep my mind ticking over when I'm not trying to work out what is the more amusing, a man slipping walking the dog and ending up face down in the mud, or a mad avoid the mud only to get splattered with it when his dog shakes itself next to him immediately after.

spelling error alert!

If you want to read, possibly, the best and most scientifically, politically and ballistically probable zombie books written in the past 25 years, then pick up Mira Grant's FEED.

I guarantee, that you will have purchased DEADLINE and BLACKOUT before you have read through the first 1/3 of the book; there are parts where you have to go back and re-read as you cannot comprehend WTF just happened; amazing books.

Also try Richard Kadrey's Sandman S,I'm novels; totally unique.

Finished VWars Ed. Jonathan Maberry last night; excellent stuff.

Get in touch if you are up for an evening of Zombiecide +/- Prison Breakout in Bristol over food and drinks, before we eat each other .....

Because it's an infection that wants to spread. Romero-esque zombies are slow and they shuffle. Look up the definition of zombie.

In the purest terms, 28 days later is not a zombie film, the baddies are infected in a different way to the trad zombies (they are more Goulish, to those of us who understand the term "Monster Manual", don't ask if you don't recognise the term!) but I think the distinction is quite fine.......the zombies in WWZ display more of the characteristics of 28 day zombies than dawn of the dead type.........

Zombie land is the best "pure" zombie film

28 days later is just the best, though, it reignited the genre...........

That's because they weren't Zombies, they were infected, in the truest sense of the words.....though they did rise after they were dead, so..........

As I say, the distinction is very fine and I, not being a purist about this, wouldn't worry about it.

I've not. Since they brought out "Magician's End" I have been labouriously re reading Feist's Midkemian trilogy. I also have another trilogy to read.......and another..........you know how it goes. I have seen it, though, and presume it's worth a read?

Really difficult to make an "opera" style book, like WWZ into a film as there is not enough characterisation for a hollywood film. It was disappointing never the less.

I have not seen it anywhere other than on YouTube, but "Zomblies" is worth a look for 45 minutes. (Obviously) Low budget indie british short, but excellent despite the fairly low production values.......

It reads like a typical survival guide. Only with zombies

There's even a comic based on it.

You're right about the films though. Hollywood, and has, spoiled its chance of making something decent with the license.

I play various Role Playing games in my spare time. Also has one of the most amazing scenes where the main bad guy actually gets pulled in half which even now is still one of the best gore scenes ever !!

"28 days later. Great film.

Probably the last zombie movie that had me genuinely scared stiff.

Still not a zombie film nor aliens ffs

Why isn't it a zombie film ?

Because it's an infection that wants to spread. Romero-esque zombies are slow and they shuffle. Look up the definition of zombie.
