Just seen the programme in which having been in prison for the last 6 years due to his refusing to wear clothes in public, he sets off to walk from Scotland back home to Eastleigh.

Inevitably he is arrested several times along the way by the police on a variety of charges.

Does he have a point, or is he nuts?

I can't help thinking what a huge waste of public money, and if they left him alone, he would just get on with his life. In the programme one bloke interviewed thought he was a disgrace, and everyone else seemed happy to greet him with amusement, posing for photos etc.

You can watch the program on BBC i player for the next 5 days. And Wikipedia has a concise profile of him.

I only saw some of it but was sad to see he turned his back on his children.

Problem is, he is breaking the law.

He knows it so should expect to be punished for it.

Or should we all ignore the laws we don't agree with & do whatever we want?

He is the one who is wasting public money on pointless court cases IMO.

To the best of my knoledge tbere is no law he is breaking by being naked in public. That is all he wants to do. He should be left to his own devices.

Isn't that what happens?

Most of the time he wanders the hills and back lanes to his heart's content, causing no distress to anyone. Every so often he pops up somewhere inappropriate and gets the jail, a few decent meals, a shower and a bed.

If he isn't breaking any law, how come he keeps getting arrested?

Maybe he should sue the police & with the money he gets he can recompense the public purse of the money he has wasted getting arrested (phew!!)

The police use "Behaviour likely to cause a Breach of the Peace". Which is a catch-all in Scotland because (unlike England, BICBW) in Scotland the police don't have to *prove* the behaviour was ACTUALLY likely to cause a BOtP. Which means a policeman could arrest you for anything he doesn't like.

It's curious he managed to walk from Lands End to the Scottish border with hardly any problems ....

And if the proposed change to Scots Law removing the need for corroboration comes about, the situation will only get worse.

A polis will be able to say 'he did it' and that'll be enough for a conviction.

No CCTV, fingerprints, DNA, second witness etc required.

We saw him walking through Newquay,people were cheering him and generally found it amusing,although we've had years of stag and hen do s so its not that shocking down her

Reckon they should leave him alone,don't think there is many he could offend in this day and age

The fact is being nude is not against the law, as it states in the programme.

So on one occasion he was charged with causing public outrage. Watch the programme, where are the outraged public?

Even a mum and school age daughter were not exactly distraught.

Don't get me wrong on this, I would not advocate walking past schools naked.He could have avoided that one.

Watch the programme, nudity is not an offence. He is an idiot thinking he could go past a school, or receive treatment at the Dentist nude.

Indeed. Rather than making themselves a bit of a laughing stock AND in the interests of saving money (or has Scotland escaped "austerity" ?) it would be pragmatic - and cheaper - to pay 6 PCs to walk in formation around the guy as he leaves Scotland. He will then disappear, as he becomes Someone Elses Problem. Because, as we all know, it's impossible to notice Someone Elses Problem (apologies Douglas Adams).
