it looks like a cold and callous term however sometimes its not what is said it is how it is said and as i wasnt there its hard to judge was the term delivered with affection and as a compliment.

Depends on your personality and if you can just wave the comments by... However.. as this term could be considered offensive and to some be considered intimidating you may stand grounds with bullying at work... whether or not you decide to take this further it is still worth seeking either legal or/and union advice

Before the interview, I had to complete an online "personality" test, and the result of the test was revealed and discussed with me privately by the workplace psychologist.

I shall never know if he described me as a battle-axe to the rest of the interviewing panel or not.

By that stage of my career, I have already done a few online tests and was engaged in management/personal development training.

Therefore, I already knew my workplace profile, and was not at all surprised by his description; and yes, I took it as a compliment.

I have a colleage who regularly calls me a ball busting bitch. And one day he'll say it at the wrong time and I might live up to it!

Although the phraseology ain't terribly flattering, the underlying sentiment is complimentary (to me).

I just wish the union representatives that we had to work with could have been described as such.
