"Finally managed to save enough to get myself a motorbike which is something that I've wanted for a long while... Now that I can get it, I'm terrified/ Anyone on here ride a bike able to reassure me that the tiniest pothole isn't going to result in various horrific injuries?" No - because you need to know it can!! You need to go on a good course to learn how to 'avoid potholes' as it were, and manholes covers and bridges and careless drivers.....and when you know how to be aware of danger, you will gain confidence. One day I'll have another bike too.......

" Potholes? Aren't they usually near the sides of the roads? You're not gonna be considered a proper biker if you're anywhere near the sides." lol

If its something like a Vespa with little wheels then let me know where to send the flowers! If its a proper bike with nice big wheels and you make sure you dress like a Power Ranger when riding it then have fun and enjoy it...

Going to head in and book the CBT in the next couple of days, just wondering, should I know my theory stuff first or does that come after the actual learning to ride?

"Kevlar jeans here plus various leather items...jackets/jeans ... textiles for winter etc etc it gets expensive dude.. Also btw.....weaving in and out of traffic is a sign of a bad motorcyclist who hasn't had training However, irate motorists complaining about filtering in slow/stationary traffic is a sign of ignorance and someone who should read the highway code (its in there)! filtering is perfectly legal (in the UK), ask any cop. I am a crap driver but a very good motorcyclist ... OP don't forget advanced training when you pass.... Bikesafe etc Assume ALL car drivers are wankers out to kill you. Also avoid people with new bikes n leathers that match, aka Power Ranger types....... usually tampax reps driving Mondeos during the day n think they are racers at the weekend (only in dry summer weather of course lol)..actual skill much less than mental abilities good luck n be safe bro" You're probably describing me apart from the job and the car I drive. R6 with matching leathers and summer Sunday rider here. Advanced driver, advanced biker.....not sure what your point is really.
