A good friend of mine has just rejoined fab and told me she got 479 messages in 24 hours!!! Some really depraved and offensive ones and loads of liars too!!!

She isnt the only one to tell me this either!

Really???

I dont think ive had 20 (random ones) in twelve months (other than replies from friends)

If all the women on this site have to put up with that then what chances have the likes of me and the other "genuine nice guys" got?

Is it time to concede defeat??

Introduce her to the filters, that'll slow em down a bit

Don't concede defeat my friend, most on here have filters on so if you get through them you're probably what they're looking for

Couples also. When we joined we ended up with 100s in a few days that just had to be deleted as it became too much of a task to sort through.

It quietens down, but 20+ a day isn't unusual, especially if we've logged in.

99% of them are god awful

When I first joined, obviously I didn't know about filters etc, so I only lasted a week before deleting!

I'm much more adept at learning which one's just to ignore

Oh and I read profile first as well, just, so I don't have to bother opening the message

Alot depends on the tone of the profile I find and also the photos you show.

The more explicit the photo the more attention is attracted and people definitely speak to you in a different manner.

The bulk deletions worry me as I don't send many but the ones I do send are well thought out and I always read profiles but I guess they get lost in all the junk mail.

To be honest, that just makes single males look like desperate animals and that's a shame.

I would hazard a guess that a majority of guys on here have never been genuine swingers, but are simply men who have been told that this site is a site where you can get sex and the women are gagging for it.

This opinion is backed up by a conversation I had with a taxi driver recently. He was telling me about his weekend and went on to say, quite coincidentally, that there's a good website called fabswingers, but to ignore the name as it's open to all, where you can go on and find women to 'shag'. He said it was the sane as a dating site but everybody is there for sex. Hmm

I wasn't really. In the mood and acted as though I'd never heard of it but he must be telling all his taxi driver mates and apparently customers aswell.

I'd be extremely surprised if 5 or 6 out of the amount of messages the OP's friend has received were not copy and paste messages that have probably been sent to hundreds of other women on here and it's not difficult to tell who has put some effort in to introducing themselves to you, so probably the lady read the first few and skimmed a few more, before bulk deleting and that leaves the more genuine, interesting and potentially suitable guys with their message in the trash can.

Just my observations. I'm a guy who started off at Xanadu in Manchester (now closed down) and found the swinging lifestyle a total turn on. I've since swung with my ex partner and also met a lady at Cupids who went on to become a swinging partner. I enjoy the lifestyle and to me, it IS a lifestyle choice, not a pathway to easy sex for men in sex-less marriages.

That is so true, and I've suspected a while that like the taxi driver lots of people are using the site as a sex site and it is ruining it.

When I first signed on on here I didn't realise about filters. I had page after page of messages. As soon as I answered one there were another three popping up.

It was ridiculous.

I met only one of them - in the end I had to mass delete.

Now I have filters set and have written my profile in such a way as to put off a lot so I get a handful a day which is manageable.

I still turn a lot down as they do not fit what I am looking for - some blatantly so - but then, those are the ones who have not read my profile and who are easily dealt with.

Never had a problem when I was on here as a single bloke. And many others will say the same. It's always the easiest option to blame others for your own lack of success.

Eh? By the same logic it should make it easier.

Show/prove you are a decent honest one and send a decent message that will get attention.

I'm not having a pop at you specifically, but the amount of guys that come on the forum and complain that the other 'bad' ones have ruined it for them are looking at it the wrong way.

This site is great for single guys, especially those who want to remain single.

I have never understood what motivates one single guy to criticise another single guy on this site. Is it a 'knight in shining armour' act or is it a desire to discredit the competition because of an underlying insecurity?

Whatever it is, I can't be the only one who thinks that it doesn't reflect very well.

No other guy spoils the experience of this site for me because I'm not here to meet other guys.

How strange......I seem to have met lots of lovely single men and not once been put off them by the crap messages I get from those that can't read the profile......are you telling me I should have been? Hard life being a woman. I hid and blocked everyone. Now and then I unhide and unblock the age range I'm interested in. The eager beaver wanna meet men are straight on it and get a no thank you. I am polite if nothing else. Then the nice patient men come by to say hello
