im sure hayley makes a cocktail drink as she tells roy not to handle the glass for fear of fingerprints and he getting the blame for her death.either way its so sad,either fiction or for real time.

I do not watch soaps generalky but this sort of storyline is something corrie does very well.

I think this is quite poignant as ongoing cases of people going though courts trying to have right to die.

Yes very emotive for folk on both sides of the argument.

For myself i definetly believe that terminally ill folk express a wish to be assisted to die to stop suffering then why not.

Yes clearly safeguards have to be in place but after seeing both parents die from cancer and emphysemia respectively seeong them suffer was hard on me but nowt compared to what they felt and i was extremely close to helping one of them.

Why anyone can say it should not be allowed beats me whilst folk are dying and suffering is beyond callous.

my mum and sister died of breast cancer at early ages and my friend that I met through the mac site has paid to be flown to Switzerland for euthanasia when the time comes which is so brave.

Corrie is covering this storyline so well and there will be a lot of tears tonight as it will hit home for a lot of us x

Think this is what the writers of Corrie and other soaps try and achieve

public debate

remember the lesbian kiss on Brookside, Haleys fight from Harold to Haley.

Soaps are becoming more socially aware of day to day issues

don't forget fact is often better than fiction

I guess the writers of Corrie could class it as a success as it has sparked debate on here

As someone who lost his mum to that terrible disease, who wanted to, but didn't go to Dignitas, I have very mixed feelings. It is a very personal thing, for the loved ones. My mum made the choice not to as, she was worried ( she told me, not my father ) that doing so would have a devastating effect on my dad. It may have been well acted ( I chose not to watch it ), but have a real problem with soapland on these type of issues. I hope they give the advert sponsors money from these shows to a cancer charity, that is far more of a statement. Somehow I doubt it.
