Genuinely surprised he's Oscar nominated. Always think of him as very b lightweight.

Not a bit of it, career defining role.

1st decent movie he has made in a long long time...... if he'd stop making crap then the good ones wouldn't stand out so much...

Jared Leto is an amazing actor... but I still wasn't massively impressed by MM in that film. He looked so different but his acting wasn't much different at all I don't think, but that's just my opinion

I thought his performance was as good, if not better than the other front-runners for the Academy Award this year (DiCaprio and Ejiofor).

I thought the film had a tighter narrative than '12 Years...' (which I was a little disappointed with, for one main reason that obviously I won't go into here!) and 'The Wolf...' (which needed a good 20 minutes or so editing out)

True Detective - utterly brilliant, and he directed it too.

He's definitely improved vastly. Mark kermode used to call him Matthew Mahogany as he was so wooden but he's dropped that now and praises most of his films quite highly.

When it comes out watch State of Jones. Or watch it for free on showbox as I did. He's brilliant in that movie.
