"to try baking some cakes now, i'm wanting to try and do a lemon meringue, but the recipe i want to try says to make the base using a food processor, i only have a blender, will that do the same job and be alright?? please advise " If it's biscuit base just chuck it in a bag and whack the hell out of it with a rolling pin! Works for me x

"It depends what you are trying to do. If you are trying to break up biscuits such as ginger nuts and digestives, then a hand-held wand blender is not going to be much use. However, if you have the suitable attachment for mincing/chopping/grinding, then yes, like a Bamix or similar. " its a proper blender, not hand held, and want to do a pastry base

"Got you. If it is similar to my Waring blender, which is a glass jug with a blade at the bottom, that I use for making cocktails, then no, as I believe pastries need more room to blend, and a jug is not wide enough. " thanks sweet xx

"A cheapo two-prong whisk with bread dough attachment should work for pastry too. Cheaper than getting a food processor unless one bakes all the time, IMHO. " oooh.... i got one of them, would be good to just do the flour, butter & egg mix with, thanks, if it dont work, i'll use me fingers
