"I get your sentiment I really do nut I hate being made to feel like I have no respect just because o don't put words on a status. If you put them there because you truly mean it that's true respect. If you put them there because you are made to feel bad for not then they are just empty words with empty sentiment. It's an awful thing that's happened but I didn't know the boy or his family. I don't know anything about the circumstances, other than what's been in the media, which I know won't be full, accurate or objective. I don't need to write a status to "prove" how caring and sensitive I am. And if I did, I can guarantee that some men, (usually those well outside my preferences) will use it as an excuse to message me, trying to show their caring and sensitivity as an "in" with me. I won't encourage that sort of behaviour. I can understand the sentiment of the post and I'm sure it was written with the best of intentions. However, it's my status and nobody has the right to dictate what I right there. Using the implication that I am heartless and unfeeling if I don't makes me feel furtherr resistant because I don't like being pressured to do anything. I've never "put this in yours status if..." on FarceBook and I won't do it here. But yes, it's very sad. | |||
