This morning I received messages from a newbie giving me his mobile no and asking to chat/meet - I declined on the grounds that I prefer to get to know someone a little on here before giving out my no.

His response to that was he doesn't like to chat on site because most of the site users are working for the site and paid to keep people chatting?!?!?

I initially thought he was confusing Fab with adult chat lines but when I questioned his assumption saying I didn't agree he replied that his mate has set up a dating site for affluent people (I am paraphrasing here!) and that all sites do it.

I have no other reason for posting than to share my total consternation at this!!

Uh, how exactly would Admin make profit from him exchanging messages on the site?

And unless there was profit involved, why would anyone be paid to chat?

Has he somehow missed that this site is basically free?

Potentially some accounts could be created by site owners just to make the site seem busier but all that sort of thing seems unlikely on here.

More profiles = more advertising revenue and a higher site value.

However, how much or how little the profile is used to "chat" on the site doesn't make a lot of difference.

I think some dating sites offer limited periods of free full access during which time they have staff teams who message you and chat in order for you to be under the impression that lots of people are interested so that when your free period runs out you pay for full functionality...

That would be pointless here because you get all of that for free...

Lol me too, perhaps we should get together and start our own adult chat line - this time next year we'd be millionaires!!!!

Then we could join his mate's site too!!!!
