Slight variation from benefits street yet tv dare not make programme about it.

Queens grandaughter Zara TIndall has had a baby and good luck to them.

However fact that Queen gets millions from civil list funded via taxpayers are ultimately paying for them so in effect living off the state.

Why on esrth should we fund extended relatives of the Queen.

Its bad enough we have royalty as it is but fact is we are for now stuck with the spongers.

I await all the royal lovers try actually justify paying for the latest addition.

I have no axe to grind with the couple just fact we pay for their lifestyle.

Yes they are covered by civil list. Fact born in nhs hospital not important as such because they were in private ward.

Other royals are treated in nhs hospitals usually but kept away from us mere mortals.

Eh? They're both (or were) internationally renowned sports people and she receives nothing from the Civil List.

I'm fairly ambivalent towards The Royal Family but at least get your facts straight before you have a rant.

Zara does not have a royal title. From my understanding of this, she is not on the list.

"Zara does not have a royal title. From my understanding of this, she is not on the list. "

2 minutes on google will put you straight... Nobody is on the civil list,it was abolished in 2013.

The replacement is called the Sovereign Support Grant, Which is a portion of the earnings from the Crown Estate, Queen doesn't pay tax officially but the remainder of the revenue of the royal families estate is used by the government just like it was tax money...

In other words the royal family are net contributors to the economy more than Starbucks and co.

I have no idea if Zara gets an allowance from her grandmother, but it is not coming out of the tax payers pocket so I don't really care either.

Family business has lots of stocks and shares and property which is rented out etc. been building the portfolio for generations, probably a fair bit in the past was accrued by business methods that would not be approved of by the OFT these days but nobody seemed to complain back then

Not jealous but would have liked my ancestors to take the long _iew too.

Really bothers some people. Take them off the list....does your life change or get better ? Doubt it.

Do you contribute to all the tax avoiding companies....Apple, Starbucks etc ? Whatever you think the royals don't cost as much as some would think.

I'm not arguing we should have to have them, just pointing out that we won't be living in utopia if we bin them !

I think most people disapproved of having their homes and businesses stolen.

Unfortunately dissent was usually met by a violent death or lengthy incarceration.

Think some of my ancestors were guilty of that as well, just not so good at passing on the proceeds. At least 1 recorded privateer and a couple of references to mercenary brigades. But that was back more than three centuries ago. Seemed to be doing little expansion during the empire building phase.

I dont really have an opinion on the royal family, other than, without them and the palace, the number of visitors to this country would probably drop, including the amount of money they spend that helps our economy.

I'm not convinced people visit to see the family.

Sending the entire family to Balmoral (permanently - just to annoy Alex Salmond) and freeing up the houses etc for paying visitors - maybe even turn some into B&Bs might be a good idea.

Perhaps Germany would take them back. One of those advertising trailers with 'want to go home - text I'm a foreigner to XXXXX and the Home Office could make the appropriate travel arrangements.

The Ministry of Agriculture could hand the quarantine arrangements for the corgis and for Anne.
