I have heard stories of pickpockets, fake taxis etc. Having just moved to London I have not experienced this myself but has anyone been a victim of it or have any information?

You seem to be aware of crime, so just be sensible and keep your eyes open, remember its your responsibility to keep safe and avoid getting ripped off, You could change London for any city in the world.

You can spot fake taxis a mile off. Drivers always tout for business outside venues and the cars are unmarked. Unlikely to come to any harm but uninsured.

Pickpockets - just use common sense.

I have heard that that they do drive to a remote location then mug you? It is a problem they are concerned about as there is currently advertisements about it.

is it true that Fulham FC charge around £40, and upwards, a ticket to watch "premiership football"?

Licensed London Hackney cabs will always have a plate on the back, a visible meter, and a visible ID badge. It's against the rules of their license to tout for business, apart from driving around with their "for hire" light on.

crime happens in all cities possibly more in larger cities as there is more people, I wouldn't be overly concerned and just be vigilant and use common sense the same as you would anywhere.

Why oh why do people think London is bad???

London is no worse than anywhere else.

Although illegal taxis maybe a problem in the west end and city.

Never get in a taxi unless you have booked it or it is a black cab.

45% of people who live in London are white British.

So either you are no good at maths or you are making things up.

fake taxis are all over the place. Never get into a private hire vehicle that you haven't booked. A private hire vehicle will have a plate on the rear of the car showing the license.

Pickpockets are as old as time. They love crowded popular places where people are distracted easily. London is rife for this sort of crime, due to the sheer amount of people. On public transport when it is crowded, keep your bags, wallets and phones safe.

This is not just London, it is any city in the world.

"Wouldn't live there for free,80% of people there don't come from London welcome to Britain "

No, they come from Scotland, Wales, NI, Birmingham, Sunderland, Manchester and so on.

Lots of the rest of the country move to London looking for work and streets paved with gold.

I grew up in London, love it and live here. I feel safer in London at night than I did walking around York on a Saturday night.

I felt perfectly safe in London and even travelled on the night bus alone a few times. Got a Coach from Victoria @ 4am too. I actually felt safer there than I do here

London

Where have you moved from? Some sort of wonderful crime free paradise?

You get crime in any city but London is certainly no worse than anywhere else. I'm a Londoner who has travelled a lot and been to big cities all over the world. In my opinion it can give any of them a run for their money in terms of things to do, diversity, history, culture etc etc. It's a fantastic place to be!
