I see that quite frequently on Social Networking sites.. but surely even if a person works it doesn't mean they are a 'part time parent'

No it dosn't, but I always call my ex a part time parent because out of the 30/31 days he only sees the girls 4 nights. Ruby

it just means they dont go to work, these days people think theres something wrong with that. people used to just say they were housewives, or just a housewife.

part time parent or full time parent, nothing wrong with either is there?

I agree with you, but I had to take him to court to get that and our youngest is serverely disabled andyet he wants full say in what happens in her life but never turns up on parents eve etc. Sorry but me calling him a part time dad means just that. Not going to comment on this anymore as its a deep subject....Ruby

apologies, it's a very personal thing, but it sounds like yes, part time is his choice and more fool him

I always read that as a bit of a statement - a justification for not working.

Which there should be no need for. In my view there should be no stigma for a parent choosing to be as available as possible to young children, and I think it's quite wrong that so much pressure is now put on both parents to return to work as soon as possible after a child is born.

I feel what you're saying but even if you have a full or part time job.. You're still a parent when you're at work.

If my sons school calls up and says he's ill I don't say "sorry but I'm not on my parent shift, try his mother I think she's not working but if she is there's just nothing we can do as that means we are both currently not filling our parent roles"

It does bother me when people try call SOME people part time parents, some of us are with our kid/s as much as possible, some have a 50/50 split-I see my boy everyday- but you're both still parents full time.. If little Johnny gets hurt and has to hospital does the other parent not go until Friday because that's when they're next scheduled to see their child?
