"Army or emergency services. If you are faced with a life or death situation you don't have time to think, what you do in that split second is the difference between someone living or someone dying. Being responsible for someone's life is a little stressful, I've been there and done it!" Much truth I agree, and from a personal perspective. But doesn't stress manifest itself in many ways for different people? Caring professions in my opinion carry muchstress, given that they take on oothers problems? And lets face it, most people who join the forces or similar have done so because they seek excitement and thrive on the buzz ? You've got to be foolish to join up then have a gripe that its all a bit dangerous now ? I'd say surgeons have it bad and to be honest were all wired differently when it comes to dealing with stress ?

It can be a "buzz" but its not why I joined. Many people have differing levels when it comes to stress and we all cope with things differently. I know a guy who left the job after attending the Paddington rail crash and it still affects him now, didn't really affect me at all. Life can be stressful for many reasons, not just through your job, some are able to cope better than others I guess, what some find stressful, others thrive on.

"More the person than the job. Some people thrive on it whilst others can be stressed out whatever they do. " This

"I would go with ambulance staff who regularly have people's lives depend on them doing their job right. " My stress level is through the roof right now!

A very close friend is a paramedic and think A&E on a Friday or Saturday night is worse than frontline!!! Trying to help people while getting a mouthful of abuse and trying to keep your cool. Don'tthink i could do it!

" Front line, in theatre must be one of the worst. " Its quite funny really but active service is not that stressful at the time. You do your job and your training and mates help you eat the fear then when someone gets hurt you get angry, very angry (that helps too)! But your mates and the black humor get you through it. (I served in NI and the Falklands.) The problems come when its all over and you return to "normal" life and have to live with what you have seen and done. Sorry about your bad luck with your employers, but I think most are getting that way...
