Just a little warning as probably most wont know. O2 are now charging for any emoji icons or smilies you send to mobiles that are not iphones. A friend warned me as she had recieved a high bill and contacted them, i did the same this morning as my bill was higher than usual. The guy said if i send an emoji icon to say a samsung phone i will be charged at the rate of an attachment the only time its free is if it sends on i msgs, they also now charge too if i msgs is down. Aparently a mail shot via email has been sent to all o2 customers warning of this on or around the 1/11/2013 i havent got this. Be aware if you have kids that send theese or you might get a few high bills. He also warned me of a premium rate text number which are scamming networks atm charging £8.33 for a text he saw one on my november bill, the company charge for a text you may not have sent and when you call up the line goes dead and asks you to tect 79910 with stop you also get charged a further £8.33 for this stop text. O2 and phoneplayplus are getting lots of complaints regarding this number, if you have it they will investigate and refund.

I'm not on o2

But I know you never send 'stop' or anything in response to junk texts, as all you do is confirm the number is active and it's then sold as a 'viable lead' phone number to every mailing list on the planet.

Why would anybody be surprised at getting charged for sending a picture in a text message?

It is attached as a picture though. It's not a standard smiley.
