So Dippy Dappy thinks it is more acceptable for men to have multiple partners in an evening than women who are just "slags" whose kids would be ashamed of them. Was surprised to see on forums in the press how many people support the view that men's sexual activities should be viewed differently to womens. Seems we still live in a rather repressed society.

I thibk as long as one isn't hurting anyone, isn't breaking the law and carrying oneself with class then one can do what one wants old sport. (Watched the great gatsby and want to say old sport a lot now)

By showing class I mean people should be able to sleep with how many people they want without bragging about it or disrespecting the opposite gender.

I'm surprised if that's the attitude with younger people - not in the least if it prevails with some older people.

I think the discussion is very valid wherever it originated. I think it shows that opinions of women haven't changed much if a youngish man very much involved in "popular culture" holds such views. I am aware from how my two grown up kids speak of their friends that it is still acceptable for a man to have lots of sexual partners but those same men still want virgins for their brides (I exaggerate slightly but you get my drift) and the women reinforce that behaviour.

Serial monogamy however is a much more in favour and having a series of sexual partners is acceptable.

What people say and what people do however are two different things and for lots of people casual sex and lots of different partners is the norm.....the wise ones just keep quiet about it.......plus ca change!

its a common thread along with this thought, and has been verbalised by a couples of female friends i used to know that had all male offspring.

they said 'at least i have all boys, so no matter what they get up to, i wont have to deal with it'

when female parents are propagating the myth that, if you are male, promiscuous and walk away from a sexual partner you get pregnant, then it doesnt really matter, then i fear there is not much hope for the future of our youth

Unfortunately tosh like this does influence opinion. I don't think I have ever seen a sensible debate on modern sexuality and therefore many people listen to nonsense such as this and stereotypes and old fashioned views are perpetuated.

I think that this is still the view of many, even if not always verbalised. I have even encountered it on here, a swingers site where I was once told my children would be ashamed of me! Which I know for a fact they would not, because I have not brought them up not be intolerant to other people's different lifestyle choices

We are equal but not everyone thinks the same as we are all different in how we see things . I believe it is based upon the saying that women are the pillar of society and life comes from this pillar in order to keep the society growing and prospering. You could even say the foundation. And if the foundation is weak so is the building weak. A lot to do with us having children .. yes old fashion I know.

It's a rather biblical argument Jo. Usually spouted to perpetuate the myth that women are weak creatures who don't know their own minds and must be led by men.

To give women an image of natural purity and gentleness helps to keep them submissive.

I think it's equally important for men to behave responsibly. To listen to their mind and not use the old 'cock led lad' excuse for wrong behaviour.

So there is a bit of a difference.

I like Jim too. Didn't think I would. Depends on what they show though. They only have about 45 minutes of tv time to get the day's events into. They are showing only the loudest people.

Also interesting how they cut rhings. Luisa telling Mrs Nolan (is it Linda?) to fuck off.... but when they showed the full scene she was only joking.

Plus Sam saying people had been talking behind her back so Luisa and wotsit (I'm crap with names) went mental on Casey. Yet it was all just a joke/ task.
