The land of grey peas and bacon

So I'm busy telling providers such as gas and electric providers I'm moving....now my direct debit increased to well over £100 a month...which is a big debt in my monthly expenditure....I thought I was using more that's why they increased it....to be told today that my gas account is in credit of nearly £800....why the fuck did they put the bloody direct debt up and then not inform me I'm in so much credit....grrrrr

They done that to me too. You can request that it's refunded back to your bank. I have no idea how they work it out that when you are not in debt in the first place they can up your monthly payments?

They did it automatically I phone them and they said that my previous amount was not covering it...I was told told that it's 800 quid in credit and I've made 7 further payments...I have to give my meter reading when I leave and if I have a credit they will put it back in my account...

It was estimated that they had over 3 million pounds in over payments sitting in their accounts, ask for the money to be paid back to you, don't let them take it off your future use age

I pay monthly for all my utilities, and request for refunds every 6 months.

They have suggested to reduce the monthly payments and I said no as I quite like to receive a refund every 6 months.

Well I could do with the credit so I guess in the light of it...it's a bonus

I'm on an Elec key meter when I changed supplier back in Sept to a much cheaper company I was told I owe £60

I queried this as I assumed with a key meter you pay before you use. After an investigation turns out they owed me £15...

So glad I queried this rather than just paying the £60

I can't see how you would not know you're in that much credit?

I give readings monthly so I can track my usage and pay the right direct debit accordingly. I wouldn't *overlook* being £800 in credit!

Cancel your direct debits and only pay on final demand. Make the fuckers sweat for a change.

If you donlt provide meter readings you can;t complain if they over or under charge. They estimate the bills on past use and/or property size.

Not sure why anyone would talk about the ombudsman, it's pretty easily rectified (usually at the next bill) and even giving readings quarterly avoids it.

I've just got to give my final meeting reading then it will be credited to me...in fairness it's my mistake in hindsight

My post wasn't aimed at you, I just find it odd that some people have posted a desire to be so confrontational.

I know I don't need to go up that high in the food chain as I'd be there forever and won't get very far quickly
