Hi.

So, I guess I was just curious to hear an opinion or two on something. I'm a 27 year old single guy, and I'm a virgin. Never had any experience with girls beyond friendship. I'm not making a sympathy post - just wanted to know what peoples assumption might be if they met someone and they admitted they were a virgin... specifically someone my kind of age.

I introduced myself to a girl local to me on here the other day - Said hi and just made general chat. She asked what sort of experience I'd had with girls. Figured there's no point in being dishonest, so I told the truth. she responded with shock and a :o face... then never replied again!

It's not something anybody should hide right?

(ps... I've searched similar threads on here and notice general responses about a site like this being the wrong place for a person to seek to lose their virginity. But thats not how I view it. I figured it might be a good a place as any to meet someone down to earth who I could just be open with)

and sunriselover, I'm not worried about that. I get a lot of people use this site purely as a sexual tool. I'm not naive. I don't expect to find "love". I don't get much opportunity to socialise where I live... small town! So thought it couldn't hurt to try something other than a dating site

I have faith in human being and I believe that not all people here are self obsessed users who think they are beautiful people and velociraptor shaggers.

There will be someone here who is willing to be patient with you but I fear the odds are stacked against her being someone you have in mind and someone who lives locally.

I'd be in the the selfish group that is here for the kind of sex I consider good sex.

Why not? You might get lucky (though I doubt it) and find that someone is desperate to have sex with a virgin. But most people are here for good sex, not just any sex and to be blunt a virgin is unlikely to offer that.

I would just chill and go with the flow and don't think about it all too deeply, just say to yourself if you meet someone on here willing to pop your cherry then great, if not its not the end of the world but just don't bank on this being the only option you have to meet a female to pop your cherry and have some nsa sex with. I'd advise you to get yourself along to one if the many clubs advertised on this site.

Therefore you'll be in the presence of people whom are looking for sexual adventures and it will give you the opportunity to use your personality and social skills.

On the questions as to why I'm a 27 year old virgin... if I knew the answer to that then surely I'd have some idea on how to fix it!

I think there are probably many reasons. I am social, I can make friends... I'm not scared of girls. The simple fact is that no girl I've met to this point has been interested in me. I mean after you make suggestions to do something with the same girl and you're met with "Maybe another time I'm busy" or "I'm trying to save money right now" for the 10th time you tend to get the message... ie. "This girl just isn't interested in spending time with me so I'll stop asking".

The impression I get is simply that I'm just unattractive. I think I'm fairly fit (not being big headed... just work a very physical job and swim a lot), I dress decently, I don't have terrible breath, and I can make my friends laugh. The main things working against me in my opinion are 1) I have a shaved head, (because it's slowly receding and I just think it looks tidier this way) and 2) I'm just not "good looking". And to be blunt... I think a lot of people are just quite shallow. And why not?... if a girl has the option of a guy who is interesting, funny, intelligent, AND good looking... then why would she bother with the guy who's bald and just not that great looking?

As for the "cunnilingus tutorials"... haha what?! No amount of sex tips will help me to meet girls.

The only thing I'd say I disagree with is "paying for a shag". This isn't my point. I'm not desperate to have sex. I'd just like to meet a girl and for something to develop. You might not be the norme in this society but in other eastern societies u find ppl who are in their 40's men and women and still virgin. Mainly coz they save themselves for marriage. I lost my full sex virginity at the age of 27. had my firs kiss at 21. By all means be upfront about it, however, try not to come across as needy and desperate, as it can be off-putting for some.

Be yourself and take your time, don't rush into anything.

It's not and personally I'm at a loss as to how anyndody can argue that it is. It;s almost as inappropriate as the people suggesting he seeks the services of an escort.

I understand what you're saying about this not being the best place to look to meet people. But take other examples - I've used a couple of dating sites, completely unsuccessfully so far. On the rare occasion somebody replies to a message it tends to be either a one word response or the conversation leads nowhere despite me suggesting the possibility of meeting up after talking a little. It just seems too drama filled. Girls enjoying being "chased" and leading guys on. Taking their pick of the best guys.

Whereas I assumed a site like this would be a lot more upfront. People know what they want and it's not out of the ordinary to bring up my experiences in conversation. Yes yes I understand a lot of women are looking for a man with experience... but I'd hardly consider it "inappropriate" that someone like me thought to try meeting people through this site!

And my entire view of sex isn't shaped by porn. I'm not naive. I'm fully confident that if I met a girl and things led naturally towards sex then I'd be completely comfortable.

That's not my issue.

My main problem is just meeting people in the first place. I've used dating sites and other "social media" as an alternative because I rarely meet girls in my day to day life. Don't meet any through work. And the town I live in is small so there's a relatively small pool of people to socialise with. Hence giving sites like this a try.

Back when I was a young single guy, I worked 4 to 6 weeks at a time, in each and every city in the UK, usually coming home at weekends. Which meant that meeting people was complex. BUT by targeting city centre weekday venues frequently open mic nights but just look at where the people roughly in your target age group are going and go there.

It may have been the city centre hotel was more convenient than getting a taxi home but I seldom had problems getting some sexual company and I am pretty sure that in Newcastle there was at least 20 different women over 6 weeks.

Bottom line is if your conversation skills are not good enough to pull in a bar, and your messaging skills are not good enough for dating sites, you really are in for a rough ride on a swingers site.

Having said that you are doing no harm except perhaps to your ego. Get to work on your profile and send out lots of messages and see what happens.

Would most people find a swinger more weird than a 27 year old virgin? I'm not so sure.

No doubt that swinging would be considered less socially unacceptable by most people. But I'll bet that at the same time many people would dutifully 'respect' a person deciding not to have had sex by age 27, they'd be privately thinking 'what's wrong with them?' With swingers they might judge them immoral, or a bit wild, but more likely the balance of private thoughts would be 'jammy buggers' and 'I wish..'
