Somewhere in North Norfolk

I had a mammogram last year at 40 so under some circumstances you can have it done at much less than 50.

As for the pain, I've experienced far, far more painful things. Take a couple of painkillers and stop feeling sorry for yourself.

A lot of women in countries without access to such screening would be glad of the opportunity.

If you have family history they screen from 40 otherwise it's from 50.

If you do have a close family member who has had one of the related cancers don't be embarrassed to get pushy as early screening saves lives and catches cancer far earlier than checking your boobs manually does. Ask your GP to teach you how to check your breasts and to refer you for screening if you have a family history.

Mammograms are undignified and uncomfortable but less so than a smear!

I found my mammogram funny actually.

It took two radiologists to keep my boobs under control in order to get them arranged properly. It would have been impossible not to have found it funny.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I will join the booby monitoring community this year *yay*

My Mum told me the plates go so close together you actually think your boobs will pop.

Yes, it's uncomfortable but only for a moment.

I'd rather a mammogram over a smear any day.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I had a mammogram and I am under 50.

It could be that your screening happened at a time of the month when your breasts were feeling tender anyway.

I had to stand on tiptoes to get my boobs onto the scanning plate. That funny sideways one was less than dignified and a bit of pain but it didn't last long. I agree it's a lot less painful than a smear.

I hope your scan was clear.

I don't think they make them for big round boobies. They seem to be designed for saggier, flatter boobies.

It is uncomfortable but over in a minute.... I would rather have that than none at all.

I'm just hoping they come out the same shape they went in.

Mine did. I'd heard all sorts of horror stories but it wasn't a big deal at all.

I didn't find it painful, a little uncomfortable maybe.... Didn't think my boobies could be squashed so flat

I think the stories about how bad it was and the sticking your boobs in a fridge for 10 minutes to get used to what is going to happen is designed to let men think we women have it bad.

I don't know how it feels if you have hardly any boobs but as I have bigguns I just flopped em on, they took the pic and I was on my way as soon as I stuck my bra back on.

No drama's at all.
