I work for the bank so I think the best thing to do would be to transfer it to me, then I will return it on your behalf

Well, that depends on your honesty. The public quite rightly feel somewhat ill-disposed toward banks in general right now but it is still a question of personal honesty.

If you wanted to go down the keeping it route, you would be well advised to put it somewhere safe for a year until you are sure that the mistake has not been spotted.

we are not in the position where £500 is a life changing amount thankfully so can repay it if needed, but the banks have caused so many so much hardship its hard to not be happy about it, think i might give it to charity

They will ask you or your mum to return the money, you can pay at a weekly rate, but they will ask for it probs near end of month.

Depends on when the transfer was. Some transfers seemed to take ages over the xmas break. It might still be showing on the statement but not actually be there now.

I'd tell them either way and get it sorted.

Have you checked the balance now.

It may have shown as a credit on one statement, then a debit on another if the payment has straddled 2 statement periods.
