"it's to do with the supplementary restraint system , (seatbelt tightening) commonly it's the drivers seat, check underneath to see if the connector has come loose " very very common, rather expensive to get sorted in a garage 5 minutes on your knees with a cable tie solves forever (had it with the 75 when i first got it)

Already paid £165 for everything else that i failed on. I wouldn't know where to look - know nothing about all that stuff.

"under your drivers seat there WILL be electric plugs handing down. unplug, blow into them, if you can, plug back together, cable tie them tight. sorted (or should be)" Depends on the model of car. Most European manufacturers the connector in question is under the PASSENGER seat, hence why it gets kicked and disconnected. If you have more than driver and passenger airbags (curtain bags for instance) there will also be two connectors in the boot behind the lining. Many cars built prior to 2004 will also need the fault code clearing before the light will go out and there's not many cheap code readers that will access the airbag acu module. Although you could try buying a Bluetooth ELM327 adapter from amazon (about £6) and seeing if one of the smartphone apps can access it. If you happen to have an Alfa theres software out there for free.

It's also a good idea to say that if you're thinking of investigating/fixing this fault yourself its a very good idea to disconnect the negative battery terminal on the car and leave it for at least 15 mins before touching the airbag connectors.
