That happens to me. I am great with faces and once a name is logged to that face I can't change it when they give me their real name.

In fact, I am much more likely to remember their username and as some know that's what I call them.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I can never remember names or faces and a night out for me usually involves a shockingly large number of people chatting to me who know me, but whom I can't remember for the life of me. I then play a guessing game, dropping out hints and gambits to get clues as to who the person is and how I know them. Think guess who but without beards.

Maybe not appropriate on this site but a good trick outside (real life/work place) is to justcask them what their name is and when they answer say "no sorry, I meant your surname". This way there is no chance they will get offended.

I did once call someone the name I remember at a heated moment and not his real name. He got a little cross and we had a different heated moment.

I always give meets a pet name to suit their personality or body, and explain from message two that I don't wish to know their real name.

I can remember around 50 pet names when I see their body or hear their voice, but could never remember real names.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I actually have a real problem remembering faces. Unless I know someone quite well, I can't usually remember or recognise their face. If I am expecting to see them somewhere I might recognise them, but it's not guaranteed. If I see them out of context I may not recognise them at all. The chance of me recognising a stranger from a photo is slim.

It can be very embarrassing.

i guess being called 'cute' or 'sassy' isn't offensive and could be sweet when in a public venue, but one on one intimately its just odd for me.

The Town by The Cross

I met a bloke from here and we exchanged 'names' I've called him this name now for about five years.

About three/four years ago he put me in touch with a lady friend of his.

She was not happy and proceeded to tell me his real name and a little more besides.

I still call him by the first name he gave me even tho I now know his real name and he knows I do. He has ALWAYS been that name to me and it's nicer than his real name

I never told him my real name tho and he still calls me by my pretend real name.

I find it over-familiar when people shorten my real name without invitation but it happens a lot here.

At choir last night we had a new warm up where we had to sing our first and last names to different notes. At seven syllables I was still singing when everyone else was silent. Thankfully we didn't have to include middles names.

I could probably walk past you, or Ryan in the street tomorrow and not recognise you. I have walked past friends in various places numerous times. I've just got a reputation as a bit vague and off in my own little world but it's actually that I really don't recognise faces well.

It was a nightmare at a family funeral earlier in the year. Fortunately a lot of people wrote it off as grief.

I know there is a test for it but I don't know if there are any exercises you can do to improve it.

I don't forget faces but I can't always put a name to them. Luckily someone I had met with others recognised me at a tube station and remembered my name. He is a very consistent and satisfying meet.

I was just looking through my contacts list on my phone . I don't know if people use their real names or an AKA . It can be very confusing . I found 20 Jon - John - Johnny's and 18 Steve - Steven - Stephen's . Hard to remember who's who . Especially as most of them have given out their number willly nilly , but never keep in touch .

I thing if people are texting you after a long period of time has past they should add their profile name and where they are from , they shouldn't assume you will remember them . I had one on fab recently from a guy I met 10 years ago . At first I didn't recognise him from any of the pictures that he sent or his name as he'd change it fro Ed to Eddie . I was baffled . If he had said where he was from and a little about himself I would have remembered and known him right away. I was embarrassed to say " I don't remember you . Who are you ? " I think he thought I was kidding .

Anyway he resent some pics with and more realistic head shot and I do actually remember this guy . Will have to find a way to make it up to him , maybe he will forgive me .
